I'm wondering who here has the oldest corn snake?

Show us your older corns and tell us their stories (breeders/just pets, how long you've had them, etc.)

I'll be looking forward to this post.
I always seem to see little guys.
Been wantign to see the older guys.

Hi All-
I just happenned on this site tonight. Thought this thread would be a great place to start. My corn is almost 23 years old. I got him as a baby in August of 1985. He spent his second summer as a wild snake. I was studying for class and had him out on a nice spring day while reading. Must have been a long chapter. When I looked for him he was gone and I searched the yard for hours. The following October, a neighbor across the street called me on a Sunday morning frantic. There was a strange snake in her yard. I ran over and sure enough it was him - identified by a scar he got from an encounter with a cat (4 stitches).

The rest of his life so far has been fairly unevenful and he now spends winters inside and his summers and warmer days in an outdoor enclosure I built for him. The picture I am posting is him in his summer home since the weather here has been nice.

He isn't large - I guess about 30" long. Some of his scales have lost more color in the past 5 years or so.

Your snake is older than me! That is a pretty cool story...did you ever think you would get him back?

Great story! What a survivor :)

I didn't think I would ever see him again. I am glad one of my closest neighbors found him and thought to call me that morning. At first she thought it was a kids toy, until he moved. Freaked her out.

Wow interesting how he's not so long despite being a good ole ripe age!

That snake is 2 months older than me...:sidestep:

I'll get some more pictures of him out and about. That picture was of him in his burrow I made for him. He can be a little aggressive since I don't handle him near as much as when we were both younger. Once you have a hold of him, he isn't aggressive at all.
I do feed him in his outdoor enclosure, but always remove him for feeding when he is in his indoor tank.

He hasn't had dead/frozen food since he was very young.

I guess all of this contributes to his initial aggressiveness. Once he knows I am not going to fill his belly, he is quite docile.

I'll probably start a new thread so this one isn't hi-jacked by one old snake. I'd like to see some of the other ancients, too. ;-)
