Who was rude in this post? I didn't see anyone being rude, I think people just have a knack for misreading the meaning behind the words we type here.
If most of the more "established" members ignored the myriad of newbie posts, who would answer them with the most pertinent and helpful information at times?
I'm not trying to knock new folks, as we all have to start somewhere, but quite a few end up here in an emergency situation when they didn't know how to take care of a snake. I sure don't want some other newbie trying to help me when they just killed their own snake last month.
But to be honest, I ignore 90% of the repetitive type posts, which is sad to admit and I hate admitting it. I want to help people, I really do. But there's only so much some folks can take, especially this time of year. You're lucky to see me reply to many posts above the Breeding Section.
It mostly just depends on how long its going to take me to reply to make it clear and concise. And also dependant on how I 'read' the original poster into whether they could understand what I'm describing or if I'd be better off to go into a song and dance about "C is for Cookie".
At least our forum isn't like some others I've been to where moderators will blatantly delete your post if you clearly haven't read their 3 page rules thread and 'accidently' ask a question that's been asked a zillion times. But I just wish sometimes people would try to do some work themselves and research, research, research (like I did, and am doing for a new hobby I would like to get into).
I didn't mean to make this appear to be a whole "down with newbies" thread, that was not my intention at all. I was just merely trying to stimulate some discussion on how we could make it better for everyone. How new people could get the information they need, without it being the same questions over and over again. So if that can be misconstrued as rude, tough gozungas.
I am merely interjecting that I would just like to see an area of the forum, near the top (as some folks can't seem to find their way down the forum for some reason) that has all of the answers to the most basic questions that are asked a zillion times right there in front of them. That way you'd have to trip over them to not see them.
THAT was the thoughts behind my posts...
