Since When was animal abuse legal?

Disgusting. Just disgusting. To think people bring their kids to learn to enjoy this!

I don't want to watch....seriously....
Stuff like this leaves me awake at night, and when I do finally fall asleep all I have are nightmares.
If you are talking about "snapperfest", I already had to defriend a friend on fb because she kept posting threads with links that lost me so much sleep I was a zombie.
Unfortunately, reptiles are not covered under animal cruelty laws, at least I don't think they are. Personally I just don't understand how ANYONE could see this as entertainment. Bullfighting, roosterfighting, dogfighting, it is all the same and i don't understand it at all....

I can't even deal with feeding live animals to reptiles....I can't look at something that has never hurt a soul and tell them "you are going to die today". I just can't....

I find it so hard to believe that that many people think it's okay. I cringed every time I heard them slam to the ground. I give myself complexes squishing bugs (even mosquitoes). I couldn't imagine doing anything close to that. Though, I did have a dream once where I was tipping cows into piles of giant marshmallows. In the dream, they came back and knocked me into them too. That's about as abusive as I could get.

ehhh I'm going to sound like the bad guy here, but I love rodeos. I have to disagree that they're cruel. Sure, maybe steer roping isn't the kindest event out there but it still holds historical reference. We don't have big open ranges anymore, so these events have to take place in small arenas. Back in "the day" cowboys would have to rope their steers in the same way, and tripping them like that makes it easy to get a handle on the animal. As I have told PETA many times when they wish to ban rodeos or protest the ones here, "If you want to ban these sports, you're banning part of our history." I don't believe any part of history should be banned. That would be like banning museums. I also have to say that this event is much kinder than regular roping, as the rope goes around the horns and not the neck. I don't know. In my opinion, rodeos are good, honest fun. The animals are well cared for. They have vets on scene. Even the video shows a dazed cow being rolled onto a sled and then have safety guards put on so it doesn't fall off as they transport it out of the arena. Yes, some get hurt. But is this to say we should ban other sports like football because it's dangerous? I've been around ranchers forever, I've never met more honest and hardworking people. I can honestly say that these "SHARK" people are lying when they say they have been assaulted or threatened. To me, these SHARK people sound the same as PETA. Full of lies. Maybe my rodeos are just better and well run, maybe this one was just poorly run.

This is the cheyenne rodeo, very poorly run. Most vets in the area refuse to treat these animals as there are too many injuries. Most of the time, as the video shows, the heads are roped. Trust me, I've looked into this. Dozens of cows died because of snapped necks in 2005. Likewise, Dogfighting is part of history.

I'm sort of the same ^^". I often will take out a flashlight and walk on my tip toes to be sure I don't step on snails after it rains... If I step on one I nearly cry XD

Honestly it's sort of hard on me to even feed f/t ^^". I buy only from a bet store that sells mice dead from natural causes.

I haven't looked at the video or know what is being discussed really, so I'm not going to comment directly on that.... but I hate "it's part of history" arguments. Gladiator fighting is part of history...slavery is part of history...public beheadings are part of history...dog and cock fights are part of history...the crusades are part of history... History doesn't necessarily need to continue for the sake of history.

There is a difference between banning a historical act and banning a museum. You can't compare a rodeo or snapperfest or whatever is being discussed to a museum. Museums merely display things, they don't repeat the act (well, some museums are interactive, but no harm to people/animals or legal interferences). For instance...I can legally display a piece of paper documenting how Joe Smith was shot in 1922. However, it is illegal for me to go out and shoot Joe Smith (for the sake of history!)

My thoughts exactly. What is happening is a rodeo event in which a bull is running and the contestant wrangles it's horns (usually just getting the head) from the right and then forces his horse left, causing the cow to flip over and be dragged several feet. Often it breaks bones including the neck in such a process, and after brought the feet are tied down with a rope. The cows often do not get care from a vet and are instead shipped to the next show for it to happen again. The cows continue doing this in shows until it kills them, in which the announcer always claims the bull is fine.

If abortion is legal why not animal abuse?

I am not against abortion. It is the same to me as putting an animal to sleep. If a child was raised by parents who don't want it or are teenagers, it likely will have a bad life.

I'm against outlawing animal abuse till we outlaw abortion.

Seriously? I would never choose abortion myself, but I find it ludicrous that you are even comparing the two right now. Way to derail...

It looks as though you came in here crucifying people for something that was not even the topic to begin with. I find you judgmental and crass, and fully believe at this point that you love to stir the pot when there is no pot to be stirred.

In short; I am offended by you.

I support putting animals to sleep especially if it's illegal to feed them to large snakes.

How is abortion any different than putting an animal in pain to sleep -.- . Think about it. A child would not be happy in the situation of a deadbeat dad because he was a teenager. In fact, 80% of inmates had no dad in their life. If the parent do not want the child, then it's cruel to have it.

Lindsey, cease and desist. There is no winning an argument with Lavender. Just ignore it and move on. I applaud that you are concerned with animal welfare, as was the original topic here. I have my own opinions on the subject, but they are influenced by the fact that I was raised on a farm, and so I shall keep them to myself.
