Small reptile handling?

Just dawned on me that a lot of snake owners here also have other small reptiles, like beardies etc.

Anyway I've gotten an Ackie recently and wandered what others did to get their non snake reptiles used to being handled.

Don't misunderstand, I don't want to get him out and cuddle him constantly (well I do, but I won't) I just want to get him used to handling enough that he won't spaz out if I need to get him out for cleaning.

My current plan was just putting my hand in the viv for several minutes, so he knows that I'm there and can get used to me not being a threat. Plan was to do this a few minutes before feeding, so he starts to associate me with getting fed.

Is that a good idea? Bad idea? Any better ideas out there?

Possibly, he's still very wary at the moment, sometimes when I open the viv he'll sit there quietly and not care, other times the moment the viv gets opened up he runs for cover.

That and I have a tendency to crush insects when I pick them up with tweezers >.>
