My corn snake who was like 4 or 5 months old very small recently died. We found the snake biting itself and then underneath there was some black spots. I have no idea whats going and I have another snake 6 years old and Im wondering if the disease is contangious.
Please Help!!
 
I'm sorry about your snake. As a precaution, I would make sure you're washing your hands, and maybe also scrub out your other snake's viv. I know you're probably pretty upset, but maybe a picture would help? Someone here could probably tell you what the black spots are. Once again, I'm really sorry.
 
Well the spots could just be gall bladder but im curious on why it was biting itself. It was strange as hell.
 
I'm sorry to hear about your snake :0( maybe it was some kind of mite??? I dunno...but again I am sorry to hear about the loss.. :0(
 
I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss, especially when it appears that your snake may have suffered a little. I've had a couple of hatchlings that I found dead the same way. It appeared as if they had some sort of seizure, but this is nearly impossible to confirm. As I recall, they too were very small hatchlings so I just put it down as a possible weakness and just "one of those things".
