Snake hasn't eaten since bought 7 weeks ago

We bought a corn snake about 7 weeks ago. He was fairly small. Not too old I don't think. My husband brought him in, opened the box and he was gone. We looked with no luck. About a week later, my oldest daughter started screaming on a car ride. The snake crawled out of her booster seat. She held him while I pulled over. I had no where to keep him that he couldn't escape besides my purse. We we're driving to Canada, so he spent a few hours in there. I think he got stressed from that. My husband says it was probably the week in the van. So anyway, I drove to the pet shop where we were going and bought a small cage and 2 pinkies. I tried to feed him that day. He didn't eat. He shedded that night. I tried 2 days later, no luck again. We then headed home and put him in the tank with our other corn snakes. We've been attempting to feed every week when we feed the others, but he wont. We've tried his own tank even incase he was intimidated by the others. He's shed 2 or 3 times now from getting smaller. He was black, now he's grayish from going pale. My husband thinks he's going to die. Is there any hope at this point he'll eat? We've tried pinkies and feeder fish.

quick suggestion I also have a baby corn that wouldn't eat and my breeder told me he used to feed her mouse tails. something small and maybe will help as a starter

Also you said you house all your corns together? That's a good way to stress out all of your snakes, they need the space. snakes don't like hanging around one another unless breeding, so be careful sith that also.

Right now we have two albino corns in a 35 gallon. We've taken the other one out. We intend to get the albino's their own as they grow. They often coil up together. We thought they liked it.

Thanks for the mouse tail tip.

you should put the snakes appart as soon as possible ... they dont like it but i am not going to start a huge thread with this again... just have a look on other threads about cohabitation ... also you should start to look up topics about force feeding....its difficult to do but could just save the little dudes life.

I will look those things up, thank you.

My husband thinks his stomach has shrunk too much to eat. Can that happen?

You say he`s small. Is there a chance he`s never eaten from hatching?
You also mention he`s shed 2 or 3 times in 7 weeks. Thats not normal for any snake let alone one that isn`t feeding. There may be other problems,
more info might help.

If you are trying to feed fish to your baby corn snake you will want to do a lot more research on the species. Most reputable breeders will sell corn snakes that are established and eating pinkies on their own, you could try asking the place you got it from what and how it was being fed. Since it has been through the ordeals you described, the best thing you can do is leave it in (its own) viv and de-stress for a few days without bothering it. Then try putting it inside a small deli cup with a pinky and leave it in a dark and quiet place overnight.
The fact it has shed so many times makes me suspect some kind of problem (Mites most likely) Does your water bowl have little specks floating in it?
Do yourself a favor, buy or borrow Kathy Love's book on corn snakes and read it cover to cover.

Thank you for the advice. We just bought this snake from petco. WE've now found a retile store we're dealing with. He knocks subtrate in his bowl, so I wouldn't be able to see mites. I tried feeding him in a dark tank when we first got him, but will try again. It is possible he's never eaten. IDK how wll petco takes care of their snakes. I'll look into the book. We tried a mouse tail without luck today.

Is it possible he's shedding cause he's getting too small for his skin? I think he shed when we first got him and about 3-4 weeks later. I can't remeber if he shed again. My husband may remeber. I was thinking 2 or 3, but it very well may have been 2.
