Chromatic Corns
Just one more
This particular clutch was a series of unfortunate events. It started when 2 snakes met accidentally during a photo shoot. I had allowed my 10yr old to help me while taking pics. I handed him a snake to put back and instead of telling me he didn't remember which bin it came out of, he put it back in the bin I was using to hold the girls before their pics. So my ultramel anery male locked with my coral ghost. Both only 2012's and she was no where near breeding size. The male released pretty quickly once discovered and flopped around for a while with his hemipenes hanging out. I thought maybe he hadn't been able to complete his task and all would be fine. Nope, she became gravid. 6 eggs, the last one egg bound her and I had to aspirate it. She recovered nicely though. Out of the 5 remaining eggs, 2 have gone to the hatching stage. The first split it's egg this morning but was still in the egg so I figured I had plenty of time. When I woke 3 hrs later (I work night shift so I was sleeping during the day) the egg was empty. I searched a little and couldn't find it so I figured it was buried in the substrate. I pulled the bin the rest of the way out and in doing so I killed the baby :crying::crying::crying: He was wedged along the top of the bin and when I pulled it out he was crushed between the shelf and tub. None of the other 25 babies had done that and I wasn't expecting him to be there. I had seen the holes in the substrate and thought for sure he was buried. I am devastated. My fiance' doesn't "get" my snake obsession so I am crying to you guys where I know I will be understood. The other egg still looks good but hasn't been slit yet. I know this breeding wasn't suppose to happen but the fact that I killed it is just so awful.
