Some new snake pictures! (DUW)

Sorry, I sent that from my phone so my words are all jumbled. I'm not discussing it anymore.

First I got no problem with the snake on the counter, I'm sure I've had worse on mine but I clean them after. My mom doesn't care but my aunt has heart failure lol.

Second Jasmine is getting big and she still has her angry face lol. I love how much her color has changed.

They are beautiful snakes! Love the beauties although I don't think I'll ever end up owning one...no more room for more species! As for the counter. Who cares?? I've soaked snakes in the sink, washed water bowls, thaw rats out for the snake and the cats and no one is dropping dead from salmonella. I clean the counters...not like insanity but with some dish soap and a wash cloth. For goodness sakes....I'm handling horse's feet, petting dogs, handling snakes and cleaning up after all of them....I'm still alive so far and I prepare food in the same place I thaw the rats and soak the snakes....I will be O.K....promise!

Like I said, uneducated people over exaggerating! Beauties are great snakes!

Calling the people who stated a very real possibility uneducated is a bit out of line David.

I concur.

While I am inclined towards Meg's idea that we over-exagerate the significance of salmonella in reptiles, I don't really want snakes in the kitchen. Kids for years and years have been catching and playing with herps without handwashing, sanitation, or dry heaves over the "risk." I used to eat lunch in my biology teachers room back in '96 with a sandwich in one hand and our banded cali king in the other.

That being said, I don't like ANY animals crawling around my food preparation areas. Even the cats are chased off and taught to avoid the counters. (Honestly the cats are grosser to me than snakes due to their litter habits) I just am not comfortable with that. I would not want MY kids letting our snakes crawl about there-- it will certainly be a house rule for us.

But it's not for everyone. It's a question for individual people to answer on their own-- but it's no cause for calling those of us who do not agree with your position on the safety/acceptability of such practices "uneducated."

Great pictures and i absolutely love Jasmine. As for the snakes on the counter, it doesn't bother me, that's what disinfectant is for and i haven't gotten sick yet lol
