I'm pretty stressed, I think I may have just gotten scammed.

Well, the black rat snake I ordered for Stony Creek was supposedly shipped yesterday, and I should be receiving it today. Well the guy sent me a FedEx tracking numberlast night, and when I tried the number last night the website said it was not in their computer. I figured maybe the package just hadn't been entered into the system yet, or something (I was hopeful). I emailed the guy and let him know it didn't work - no response. So then I tried again this morning, and the same thing, still didn't work. I emailed the guy and told him the tracking number wasn't working, could he please double check it.

Then I had the bright idea to call FedEx to get the correct tracking number. Well, I called them, and they have no record of any shipment headed to my name OR my address. This sounds pretty bad, doesn't it? *sigh* I am definitely going to be in trouble now.

I guess there is really no point to this post, but I had to share my frustrations and fears with someone. Part of me is still hoping that the snake will magically appear before the end of the day. :awcrap:

go to UPS and USPS and enter the tracking number. This happened to me once~ and I discovered the tracking number worked just fine in USPS~ which infuriated me (and yes, the snake did wind up lost as well!) but at least I knew where to look.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

I've had several overnight shipments that never made it into the tracking system until after they were delivered. Hopefully there is an innocent explanation and your snake will arrive today. And yes, check the number against UPS and USPS, too.

Fingers crossed for you.

Yeah, I tried the tracking number with UPS, USPS, and DHL also. No luck. This is very bad. :(

Alright, well, this offers me a ray of hope. I am going to hope this is what has happened with my new little snake. Thanks!

YAY! Some good news finally! There was simply a mistake in the tracking number (one digit left out in the middle), and everything is showing up on the computer now. *whew*

Next time I suppose I should just be more patient. ;)

Glad to hear it's working out for you.

I know I always sit on pins and needles when I've got babies in transport. It's frustrating when it doesn't show up in tracking.

I just got a pair in from Kathy Love this morning through DHL. They called me to let me know my snakes were in. They knew what was in the box even though it was labeled "2 corns" and "2 elaphe gutatta". As soon as I walked in, the gal at the counter says, "Oh, you must be here for your snakes!". Either they remembered me from last year, or they see this more than I realised.

Good luck with yours!

Just a hint, make sure you have hold of the package BEFORE you tell the delivery person "what the heck a elaphe-whatever" is. My last delivery I had to follow the UPS guy out to the curb to sign for.

Yay!

He's here! He looks pretty good too...although it would not have been my first choice to send him in a metal tin in 90* weather. Talk about hot. He seems to be fine though.

Gorgeous little bugger...I may post a pic or two later.

Yeah, I think the delivery lady had no idea what she was delivering...for some reason FedEx put the box inside a bag, and I opened the door in time to see her nonchalantly swinging the bag to and fro. Boy did I sign for that in a hurry! He seems none the worse for the wear though, and is curiously cruising around his new viv.

He's such a little guy, and his eyes are so HUGE (compared to corns) and cute. I think I'm in love. ;)

BTW, thanks for setting my mind at ease this morning, Connie. I think I was just nervous having never dealt with this guy before. Last time I had snakes shipped it was easy. They were sent from Joe Pierce, and I already knew his reputation, so I had no worries, only anticipation. :)

It's hard when things don't go exactly to plan. I just wanted to let you know from a shipper's standpoint the things I've run into occasionally. Most times anymore I send the tracking number with an additional note not to panic if it doesn't show up in tracking. I've had it happen often enough, especially with preparing shipping labels online.

Glad to hear he arrived safely. A metal tin...that's a new one, but I suppose it won't get crushed that way. :D

Congrats that things worked out for you.

I went thru the same thing with my Green Tree Python. It had been shipped by DHL from Kansas, I tracked it all the way to where it was on the truck for delivery. I sit waiting at the door....waiting....waiting....a truck noise.....nothing....waiting....go back and check tracking....DELIVERED????? Wah???? I never heard a knock or anything. There she was sitting on the porch (fortunately in the shade) Big note that said "ring door bell" on the box in bold print. Evidently reading street addresses is all he was qualified for! She was fine though.
