I think it looks fake. How could you connect the spine, GI tract, much less the brain stem?
 
I believe all of these cases in which it "worked" the animals died not too long after the procedure.
 
I've seen a video of either this case or a different one where a little dog was attached to a larger dog and it was horrible to watch. The dogs did not live more than a few hours, if I recall correctly.
 
The larger host canine looks catatonic. Less than vibrantly alive, in other words.

I guess big dog has to lie still for the photo while the little dog is duct-taped to the side of his neck.
