I was able to catch my male Ghost Stripe getting himself all set up to breed. I've seen my males expel their sperm plugs before, but this was the first time I was able to catch it on camera, so I thought I'd share . . .
Very cool picture. I felt bad for my boy last time. He had shed the plugs and was all ready to rock and roll. Unfortunately, the girls decided they had had enough and didn't want to play. I had to put him away unfulfilled.
Nice pic. I had a ready to go male think my hand was the female. I had just moved a female from another cage and then moved him around and I guess he smelled her. His tail went up and I said...what the heck are you doing and then out came the plugs and I quickly moved his tail away from my arm....did wish I had a camera though.
It is pretty much like a plug. The plug itself is pretty much white and semi solid. Kind of reminds me of foam when it comes out. My male chondros shed plugs with each shed and they are long, yellowish and hardened. Sort of like a piece of the shed. I don't know if they would be the same if shed before breeding when they are "fresh" or not, but with the shed, they are not soft.
