Star Spangled Banner

Addict in the making
Like millions of other people around the nation, and the world, I'm watching the superbowl. I think that it's disgraceful that someone that's given the honor of singing the national anthem at one of the biggest televised events of the year can't even be bothered to learn the words. She should be ashamed.

Sorry, rex. I noticed it and wasn't going to mention it. I really like Christina Aguilera.

But as horrible as I may sing, I can say I would darn sure know the words perfectly. Perr feckt lee.

I dont get into football so I didnt see it but im not supprised. So many people try to put there own twist on it and forget that it should be sang with respect the way it was written I think. When they do not sing it properly I feel it is disrespectful.

I know the words to our national anthem. I have since I was about 6 years old. If I was asked to sing it, even at a local little league game, I would print out the words and practice. I like Christina too, but am very disappointed.

I know. I think that was what made it worse.

Whitney in '91 still reigns supreme.

How is that even possible??? I freaking know the Canadian National Anthem, even (in English), from having heard it at every sporting event up in Minnesota since I was a child. What a loser.

Not only did she not know the words, but I despise her style of singing.
Just sing the song dammit, don't go up and down the scale.
And the rocrororoorokets red glare, the bombs burerersting in air...gave proof though the nigiheighthiheight that our flag was still there....
Gimme a break....

I HATE Christina's vocal acrobatics, and I'm offended that she didn't know the words. I performed this song at every single one of my little sister's wrestling matches, including the Florida State Tournament. Yes, it's a difficult song. Which is why it's that much more impressive when you sing it AS WRITTEN without adding "your flair" to it. At every performance, because I didn't add to it, I received a standing ovation.

Is this REALLY that surprising? The Black Eyed Peas ruined the songs (excluding their own) they played as well.
But yeah... that was utterly horrible. Just do what you were asked to do and sing the song.

Then again, it doesn't surprise me when someone who leaves their door unlocked is robbed/raped/murdered or when someone posts an image of a sickly animal in a pet shop, so maybe my standards just aren't high anymore.

her voice was awefull to in my opinion and the black eyed peas are trash without their auto tune aparently to boom boom pow sounded horrible

I'm trying to think of 10 current popstar acts who don't use autotune or pitch correction......

OK,...I'll try again....for 5......

EDIT : ....OK....I give up....

Who DOESN'T use autotune? However, I was more annoyed by the fact that they used it or something for a LIVE performance.
Linkin Park (last I checked) sucks when they do live performances despite entertaining the crowd, but their albums obviously don't suck (well... except the last one they put out :puke02: ).

I think it's disgraceful for players to be bouncing around during the Star Spangled Banner like they're on the floor at a rave....

That was weird. I was wondering about that.

Just one more Steelers played that's a disrespectful bozo. I also really thought it was classy for Mendenhal to run flat out into a sound guy and send him careening into a fence post, and then just get up and return to the field without stopping to see if the man was okay. I know it's a risk of the job, but c'mon man... basic human decency.....

I MISSED the Star Spangled Banner live, but just recently watched a clip of it... I'm with Bethany on this one... just sing it straight, it isn't about "you" (the performer) and KNOW the words!!

That being said, I've messed up on performances & speeches too... Glad I did those "flubs" BEFORE the internet where everyone can rewatch/rehash those mistakes over and over again. LOL.

Last I checked linkin park sounds awesome live. Yes their last album bombed... but hey maybe they'll go back to their old stuff again.
And I agree with everyone to just sing it straight, its the national anthem, not one of your own songs. But I will say, Canada has a much easier anthem, I havnt heard it in years and I could sing it right now if I had too.
