never seen this movie before, I just watched into darkness so i was like hey i wanna see the orginal

so HOW is khan marooned in 1996 by kirk and yet this movies take places in 2285?

just started it and that what they said?

It's been A LONG time since I saw that episode!

As I remember it, Khan and his genetically engineered super buddies were found in suspended animation by Kirk. They had been that way for a long time when found. And then they tried to take over the Enterprise. I think Kirk left him on a planet somewhere, but I really can't remember the ending at the moment. Maybe I'll have to watch it again sometime.

May I suggest Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki? Here's a link: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Khan_Noonien_Singh

see I have never seen that episode before ! the movie takes place much latter when khan escapes the planet. looking up some info on the now.

when khan left earth in 1996 he was frozen until 2267 see that was my issue. I thought they said kirk found him in 1996 and that made no sense!

I didn't realize khan was featured on the show ! Ive never been a star trek fan but the new movie series is just so good

There are a few continuity issues with regard to Christopher Pike's character in the new series and what happened to his character in the original series. This was "explained" by the fact that new series Spoke spoke to himself in the future and therefore we are seeing another possible/parallel time line (multiverse) as opposed to the same one as the original series only earlier.
IOW just enjoyed them for what they are without trying to synch them up because you will end up annoyed/disappointed.

The reboot movies are considered to be on a different timeline, which conveniently gives Abrams license to do as he wills without getting hung up in canon. I particularly liked the way Kirk and Spock switched roles at the end of Into Darkness versus Wrath of Khan

I'm afraid I have to agree with Becca. I wasn't a huge fan of the first Abrams' Trek and I have no inclination to see the second. I had pretty high hopes for it.

(and no, I don't have a problem with the multi-verse, I just don't see the same degree of chemistry in the new cast as I did with other Trek casts)

I am really surprised you both disliked the first of the "new cast" Star Trek movies. I LOVED the first one, and liked the 2nd one, too. I was actually surprised how well they did the first one. And I am an old time fan, having watched the original series when I was in about 8th grade or so, back in the '60s. It was my all-time favorite series while growing up.

Although it is sad to say goodbye to the old cast, it had to happen sooner or later. I thought they did a great job with the new cast, especially Spock and Dr. McCoy. They really had the mannerisms down well, and Spock really looked like a young version of Spock. I wasn't nearly as happy with the choice of Kirk, but I guess he will grow on me in time.
