Sterilite Cages?

So many people say yes, yet a lot still say no. What's the opinion here? I've seen some places that say 28 quarts, but I went and looked at them today and that is TINY. I wouldn't put a poor snake in anything smaller than the 67 quart storage container they have.

Also, some places swear you need a Rheostat? Is this true?

I use sterilite tubs in my rack. Work fine. Either way, you need a way of controlling the temperature. Heat pads get way too hot left unregulated. Burns and or death can result. Also, try not to anthropomorphize the snake. People have kept snakes in rather small environments for a very long time and most do quite well.

Alright, so a 67 quart sterilite would be good then.

And I'll make sure to get a way to control the temp. Any recommendations?

The 27 quart just looked so tiny, it wasn't even as big as the 20 l tanks I looked at : /

Thanks!

Yes, 20 gallons = 80 quarts, but depending on the floor area and snake size the 67 quart may be plenty of room. I would think a 28 quart would be fine for youngins.

I have my 4' snake in a 30-ish gallon tall sterilite and she is very happy. I am a total sterilite tub convert.

I use sterilite tubs. My hatchlings are in shoebox sized ones from hatching until 18-20 inches (depending on the individual snake), then moved to12 qt boxes until they reach 24 inches, then moved to a 28 qt until they hit 30 inches. At that time they go to the final upgrade a 41 qt. This tub has the same floor space as a 29 tall tank. I think that is the same as a 20 long, not sure. Believe me my adults have plenty of room in the 41s and they work as maternity tubs too with the laybox on one end and a waterbowl/hide combo on the other end with space to move around between them.
