strange creamsicle?

I have a question, but without any pictures it may be hard to tell.
I have a candy cane creamsicle (I've heard it called "candy cream" on sites before) with an almost pure white background and nice light orange markings, and he has a solid white belly starting from his head half way to his mid body, and from there on it is checkered, so my question, is there any morph or gene that causes half of a pure white belly? He has some strange almost streaky stripes through his dorsal markings at mid body as well, could he be het for something that is slightly coming through or is it normal?

Creamsicle changes all the rules. With the introduction of the emori genes none of the normal cornsnake genetic rules apply anymore.

I have a perfect stripe creamsicle with a completely checkered belly.

that's what I assumed, I am not yet ready to breed corn snakes, so all the information I can gather about the morphs I have is crucial, but I figured that him being part emori that it might influence his pattern in strange ways, thanks for the reply.

Anytime you are dealing with known hybrids/intergrades, it become svery difficult to predict, especially in terms of patterning, what the babies will look like. It becomes very difficult to know how the genes are lining up, and what genes are forming on which loci, as well as which mutations and recessives genes are even compatible.

IMO...hybrid and intergrade breeding becomes a "Christmas Morning" breeding project, because you really have no way of knowing what each baby is going to look like. Breed a striped Cal king to a normal corn...what will the babies look like? Where will the pattern form? What genes will line up, and what will it look like when they do?? Breed a Striped Cal king to a striped corn...same questions? Are the genes that make a Cal King striped compatible with the genes that make a cornsnake striped? If not...how will they pair up?

It all becomes a "crap shoot", so to speak, as too little is known about HOW hybrids pair up...let alone WHY...

I understand what your saying, but are'nt Emory's rat snakes similair to corn snakes, don't their genes closely follow corn snakes? and what other than albino can be compatible with my creamsicle, I have'nt started breeding yet, and I'm not exactly sure how most people start, but I do have enough knowledge as far as what corn snake morphs make other corn snake morphs, I just slowly grew my collection with the intent of eventually breeding but the only two I have that are surely compatible with one another (Ultramel het Caramel 66% het motley female-Motley Butter Male).
I think I've seen creamsicle ultramels, but is that created just by breeding UltramelxCreamsicle, please any information you can give I would greatly appreciate.
And do you think it's a good idea to buy baby cornsnakes with compatible gene morphs with the intent of breeding them, or is buying proven breeders the smarter idea?
I wish I could have some sort of apprenticeship or intern type deal where I work for the knowledge of how to breed and incubate corn snakes with a knowledgable breeder, I've just been basically alone in doing research and buying corn snakes thus far, I see alot of people on this forum that have friends or know other people who breed corn snakes, but unfortunately I do not.
I just read books and research alot online, but any advice on anything you can give me as far as buying corn snakes, breeding corn snakes and other information you can give I would be very appreciative, I've been keeping snakes for about 4 years so I think I've learned alot as far as caring for snakes (feeding, cleaning, heat, humidity etc.etc.), and I've tried to purchase corn snakes for breeding purposes based on morph and gender but that's about all, I have no actual experience breeding so all info you can give is great -thanks-

I couldn't tell you what genes in the emoryi species are compatible with cornsnakes. I've never researched it...

I can tell you that reading and researching are your best bets for knowledge. I only know a couple people in "real life" that breed, and none of them breed corns.

You want to learn how to breed corns? Buy three books:

"Cornsnakes: The comprehensive Owner's Guide" by Bill and Kathy Love
"Cornsnakes in Captivity" by Don Soderberg
"The 2008 Cornsnake Morph Guide" By Chuck Pritzel.

I believe you can get all three books from Kathy's site, Cornutopia.com. This is the "Holy Trinity" in cornsnake care and captive breeding. It will give you more insight than a year on this forum. However...spending time on this forum is a sure fire way to gain more knowledge than you can reasonably hope for...This place is FULL of knowledgeable people, and we all share the love of snakes...

thanks, I have Kathy Love's book and that's great, also I've searched the internet high and low for information, but I'll look for the other two books, thank you very much.
I guess it's more trial and error and research, rather than learning first hand from a veteran corn snake breeder, I just don't want to make any mistakes when I start breeding.
