Sorry about the title, I just feel really strong about this:
On friday, I fed my snake. His usual feeding day is on thursday, but that day was overflowing with errands I had to run, so I didnt get to feed my snake on that day. Then on Saturday, I went to a friends house to watch a movie and stayed there until 12:00. When I got home everyone was already asleep. Today (Sunday) my mom tells me that I didnt put the mice back in the freezer. I freaked out. And I asked her where they were and she said "I put them in the refrigerator" I dont know why she didnt put them back in the freezer, but I dont want to ask her that. So I took them out, and the bag was filled with blood. I opened the bag, and I gave it a sniff. And of course, they were bad. so I really felt bad about throwing them away, but I couldn't give them to my snake. There were about 20 pinkies still in there. It hurt me to throw them away. Its like throwing good ol' money away. And I said to myself "He needed to get started on fuzzys anyways". So that was a stupid mistake of mine. :punch:

Have you guys ever experienced something like that with your feeder mice? Where you just completely mess up with the mice and have to throw them away, or something like that?

Yep, I did the same thing! I had about 10-15 pinkies in a baggie and left them sitting on the counter. By the time I realized they were there it was too late to save them and I had to throw them away. I felt bad too, mostly because the poor little mice died in vain, only to be thrown away in a garbage can. But what can you do? Now we'll both probably be careful to remember them. :)

Well- probably a good thing she put them in the refrigerator- sounds like they were out long enough before she discovered them to have gone bad. If she'd frozen them, you wouldn't have known till next feeding day, and if you threw them straight into the water, who knows if you'd have noticed.

I bought two packs of fuzzies at a show once and even though they looked weird there, I really needed them, so I bought them anyway. A different vendor than I normally use. When I got them home, they looked so bad I just threw them out. 50 mice.

Oh yes - I did the exact same thing, and I wanted to kick myself. I left almost a full bag of pinkies (50) out once. I had several bags of mice out, and I thought I had put them all back - wrong. The gross thing is, I scooped up the bag of pinkies along with a bunch of those plastic Wal-Mart bags, and put them in my laundry room where I store plastic bags. I discovered the mice when they started smelling...

Yeah, I was breeding my own for a while and left out the container I had all of them in. It was extra annoying because I had to go out and buy some. Then instead of dying in vain I had to kill them in vain myself. Hasn't happened since.

But what can you do? Now we'll both probably be careful to remember them. :)

I know I will! I just made an order for 200 mice to come in the mail next week. I know its too much for one snake. Hope they dont go bad in the freezer. Or...I could get another snake to go with the other 100 mice..:crazy02:

That sounds like a great idea! :p
