<hijack> I havent even seen my anery since I got him yesterday morning. I dont even think that he came out last night. I am assuming he is still hiding below the aspen. Is that normal? I am assuming it is. Maybe I am just anxious to see him moving around instead of constantly staring at an empty viv. </hijack>
Your snake needs time to settle in...You might well find that in a week or so your snake will come out in the evening,or it may not come out at all while you are up and about..It'll probably come out when it starts to get hungry.Snakes are pretty shy creatures to start with and also need about a week without handling/minimal disturbance for them to settle in and feel at home.I would leave well alone for a week then try feeding in a substrate free container. Before you do this while you are transferring it have a good look for anything that doesn't look right.I did this for my two amels that I got two months ago and they have been just great. They started exploring thier homes after about a week or so.You might just have a secretive snake...Time will tell on that one I'm afraid!!!V

Another thing to take in mind: when you go into the viv, make sure you don't have the smell of prey on your hands! If you have been busy with a a prey, thawing it etc. and then go into the vib with your hands, the snake will think food is on it's way and will strike.
My snakes are used to getting scooped out of the cage in any way: from side, from under and from above. I never handle them after feeding.
In fact: I handle them only before feeding. Then I check them while they are in my hand (one at a time of course), make sure the viv doesn'tneed extra cleaning (of course I take away poop but then they are hidden most of the time. No I don't keep my sankes together) and then I feed them. Maybe they know that after handling the food will arrive. I do take them from their hidingplaces too because otherwise one of my snakes will never be seen. That one is so lazy if I didnt take care of it he would probably eat once in three months :crazy01:
