Teeny Baby Aneryhate

Ssthisto

Look, a shiny penny!
My first baby corns - the little Anery stripe was the first to come out, and I-think-it's-she has small hate for me.

Two more little anery noses are poking out; I think one of them is another stripe, but I don't know for sure.

Everyone cross fingers that there will be a glacier stripe male in there for me or a moonstone stripe of either gender ...

Parents are Anery het amel, lavender and stripe.

Yeah, someone proposed Moonstone as a name for Anery Lavender, and I like it, so I'll be using it for mine :)

Yup, that anery stripe doesn't look like he thinks much of you at all :) Hope you have some more treasures in there just waiting to pop out :)

Funny thing is, I've just bought one of my dream snakes (a radiated rat) and Fusion doesn't have nearly the hate that this little anery stripe does :D

I'd been worried about this clutch too - today is day 70 of incubation, and I'd been sorta telling myself "Well, if there isn't even a pip by the end of day 70, I might try slitting just that one egg that's really badly dented and has been for two weeks..." figuring that if it was that dented and not hatching it couldn't possibly be a HEALTHY egg and therefore I wouldn't be accidentally killing any hatchlings.

That's the egg that little "I'm a SSSSStripe !!HATE YOU!!" came from... so there we go, she's told me that under no circumstances am I supposed to start slitting eggs even if *I* thought they were taking their sweet time about things.

That said, when it came to it if she hadn't pipped today I still don't think I would ACTUALLY have got the surgical scissors and had a look. I'd have probably thought "no, I don't want to know THAT badly how a dead-in-egg hatchling looks."

Well, so far we're up to:

3 Anery Stripe babies (one of whom actually BIT me! He BIT me! I needed an ambulance... because I was laughing so hard I forgot to breathe.)
2 I-Think-They're-Snow-Stripe babies (At the moment they're the "pink ones")
2 Anery noses sticking out of eggs
1 I-Think-It's-A-Moonstone nose sticking out of an egg

Unfortunately one of the pink ones is fairly badly kinked about half an inch up from the vent; I'm going to see if it can feed and if the kink is something like a crick in the back from hatching stress; if it doesn't resolve then it'll either feed someone else or stay here with me permanently. The healthy pink one has some serious hate, and was striking repeatedly at my nose. Not that I can blame him since I'm this gigantic monster... but after the events about an hour previous* I can't be frightened of something that small.

Odd that thus far I've not had a single non-stripe out of any egg, given that the parents are only het for stripe. I was expecting at least one blotchy baby out by now!

* You try getting a three-foot radiated rat snake out from behind a six-by-three-by-three vivarium with other vivs and stacks on top of it. Go on. Try it. Radiateds have serious hate when they're thoroughly spooked, and poor Fusion thought the f/t mouse was going to kill him.
