I have a 10 gallon aquarium with aspen as my substrate and a zoomed reptitherm uth under one end,but both ends read about 82 f.What should I do? There is no corn in it yet but it should come on Tues.
Thanks
A 10 g is a little small to achieve a real noticeable temp gradient. As long as you are sure that the actual temp on the surface of the substrate, over the heater is 82, you’ll be fine. What are you using to measure the temperature?
I actually keep my corn in his "own" room (read: the computer room) which I try to keep around 75 (while the rest of my apartment varies with the landlord's heating system) which helps with his gradient. But yeah, a 10g is a bit small to see a noticable difference. I agree with cav though that you need to touch the surface where the heater is because the air above it isnt the best measure. I have a temperature control on my undertank heater to make sure that stays at a corn happy temperature.
ok thanks im using a digital thermometer with a probe,i thought it would be hard to get a cooler end with such a small aquarium but i heard that bay corns like to be secure. Thanks i feel a lot better now!
