Temperature inconsistency

Hey all and thank you for viewing my post.
I need some help, I am having some temperature consistency issues. I use both a Zoomed heating pad and Zoomed ceramic lamp with UVB light for my corn. Before I bought the ceramic lamp my cornsnake was acting a little feisty and regurgitating his meals, I figured it was because his hot side would only get to 84F. After I added the ceramic lamp I noticed his overall attitude improved and he was much more active! Yet I'm having issues with a consistent temp. I have a glass 20 gallon tank, I use a digital thermostat w/ hygrometer placed on near the bottom on the left side of his tank. As I stated the highest my heating pad gets is 84, but with the ceramic lamp the the hot side gets to 85-91F. When it gets over 88F I turn on my fan and shut off the light until it lowers.
Now my poor corn hasn't been able to keep a single meal down since I adopted him 3/21, granted I have only fed him twice. I fed him for the third time yesterday, I'm very stressed out about him keeping this hopper down. Im thinking the regurgitation has been due to inconsistent temps but I know he was stressed out the first and probably a little bit the second time.
This is my first snake and its been pretty stressful trying to get everything down. He's an absolutely lovely snake with a funny demeanor. I am still learning and hoping I can do better. If anyone has any tips please share!

do you have a thermostat on the lamp as well? if not you should. Thermostats provide the consistency. Can you imagine if the heater in your house did not have a thermostat and just ran all the time?

The Heat from the lamp is messing with the heat from the pad and interfering with the thermostat on the pad.

Personally I don't think you should use a heat lamp, but some folks do. "Any" source of heat that you use should be driven by a good thermostat.

Hey Im right down the road from you in Kansas. We live here in Emporia.
When I used aquariums I always use ceramic heat emitters. Our house is cool and CHE help to heat the air.Glass tanks dont hold the heat at all.. I put either a tile or piece of slate under the CHE to make a nice toasty basking spot. I use a lamp dimmer with CHE's and keep the thermometer on the piece of slate set around 88-90.
The cool side usually runs around mid 70's.
Anyway thats what worked for me.
