Terrible News....

I'm terribly sorry to hear about Tempest's prolapse, but am very glad that she seems to be recovering nicely. And if you have to have a snake as simply a pet, you can't go wrong with a lovely like her! I'll say a little prayer for a complete recovery and no recurrence.

I certainly can't Susan. She's the poster girl for how sweet a chondro can be and every bit a wonderful part of my pet collection. I wouldn't cry if she couldn't go on to produce...well, maybe a little as I feel her babies would have been incredible just like her. I'm very anxious to see if temperament breeds true as it seems to in cornsnakes. I was also interested to see if you breed two excellent feeders, will the majority of the babies be good feeders as well. Starting baby chondros is the hardest part of breeding them. I don't think I'll ever have one as sweet as her again. They don't just crawl off trees ya know :)

Update!

Well, it's been 16 days and I took her to my local vet that is supposed to know something about reptiles. He's very nice, but has only basic information and couldn't offer me much in way of answers. He did remove the stitches and so far, everything's staying put. I will continue to soak her every couple of days and I'll try to feed her a small, small mouse in a few weeks. Hopefully everything will stay where it's supposed to without further problems. The vet was very nice and is going to try to contact a few of the reptile people; One is at the San Diego Zoo, the other is a retired reptile specialist who now works for an alligator place in Myrtle Beach. He said he'd call me with any ideas. I will probably end up taking any other problems (if it's not an emergency) up to the vet in Columbia. He comes with high recommendations.

That's great news! Glad to hear she's healing well so far. I think you need to post updates after this in a thread with a different title- it still scares me till I get to the end to read if she'd ok or not...

Sorry about that! It was terrible news. I was devastated when it happened and I will still worry about her re-prolapsing every time she eats now. Probably for a long time. I've heard mixed things about prognosis from various people. I've had friends that have had their animal die and some that have gone on to do o.k. I'll just have to hope for the best.

Oh wow, I don't know how I missed this thread when you first posted it Meg! Poor Tempest! I can only imagine how terrible it was to go through that with her. I am so glad she is recovering and hope she continues to stay healthy.

I talked with Tim about it when I chatted with you the other night. It definitely was not a fun night for me! So far so good though, although I'm obsessively checking on her, poor thing. She's pretty much sick of me by now. She was the absolute best for the vet though and just tucked her head into my arm while I was waiting in the back and let me pet her. It was a little cold, but the vet was nice enough to turn off the air conditioner for me. I had her covered in the snake bag and with my shirt and she was snuggled up in my arms. What a little baby she is :)

Hey Meg, has there been any updates on this girl? Is she still doing alright? I've out of it for the most part this last month and didn't know if I'd missed any news.

Sorry to hear about this. Best of luck to both of you, and hope everything is back to good and normal soon.
