The Devils Advocate
Like most of us, I use multiple forums....
I just went to a forum and found one of my pics posted on there.
I didn't post it, it was stolen......:twohammer
I don't know whether to be flattered or irate....
Time for a watermark me thinks....

Now that really stinks! We mark our pictures but it can covered up. We were told that someone was posting pictures of "Powder" on another forum and it really upset me too. I have no problem telling that forum that it was MY photo and MY animal! I have all my photos and they are dated in the computer via the camera when drop loaded.

Heck, just ask and I would be ok with someone using my photos, but to just take them and post them as your own is just WRONG!!

We are looking into water marking ours as well.

Hang in there!

I was on a web site and found a whole bunch of pictures of my wife. I was crazy insane jealous until I figured out that I was the photographer. After that I was kind of proud.

What, someone is claiming your snakes belong to them? I would laugh at that rather than be bothered, they obviously live sad lives if they feel the need to pretend-own snakes so they can - as my friend would say in a dorky-voice that always cracks me up - "show them online".

I'm just waiting for someone to steal my snake comics, lol.

Another reminder that there are weird and bad people in the world. The internet is finite, and I have seen some of the same wallpapers recycled all over the place.
I wouldn't dream of stealing/using somebody else's snake pictures....I mean, I either have the snake to photograph and post or I don't. Besides, all of y'all know me, what I have, and possibly (likely, it's no secret) where I got them from.

You know, a great photographer on this forum, per my request, sent me a big giant extra-wide vista of some mountains....because I liked it and wanted to make a dual screen wallpaper out of it. Just for myself. He signed it (marked it), but that he would trust me to send it to me, having promised not to distribute it any further,....just made it all the more special.

Anyhoo...just waxing sentimental...Mike's post made me think of my (nicer) story.

Thanks for the replies...
I've googled his user name and found the forums he uses. I've also posted on the site with the pics, that they are mine...
To prove it I deleted them form my picasa account....
The maddening thing was I didn't recognise the pics at first...
I called Joel, all excited, 'Joel look at this snake, it's a bit like ours'
Joel.... 'Right click the image.....Thats my code'
We have had an apology back saying he is sorry and he didn't realise you can't post others pics....
I've sent him a message that if he wants pics, just ask... I don't mind, just let me know you are using them.....
The real maddening thing is..... I nearly posted...'Nice snake'

My wife raises all different kinds of rodents for show, feed and for pet homes. She has an website that is dedicated to them. It explains about their colors, temperaments, genetics, etc. She has literally, put years into this thing. One day, while web surfing, she came across another site that was dedicated to rodents. This person set up their site, added pictures and graphics and then stole (plagiarized) everything she had written up about the rodents. I mean, no morals, word for word, kind of theft. So, stealing a persons pictures and placing them on a forum doesn't surprise me. Some people are low, low, low!

Maybe this could be a new business opportunity!!

The ad could go something like:

Do you love beautiful reptiles, but don't have the time or money to spend on them? No problem! Just come to "Virtual Snake Rentals!" We have all species, from corns to cobras! Normals to albinos! We feed them, we breed them, we scoop the poop. All you have to do is rent the photos for $___ per month, and give a name to your little darling. Then you can share its life adventures with all of your friends, via the Internet. No fuss, no messy cages, no dealing with rodents - ideal for busy, modern urbanites! Order your virtual snake today!!

It COULD work in today's strange world!

Kathy (The glass is always half full) Love.....
Thats a brilliant idea.

Hey that would work for my wife too. Many people don’t like commitment. Some people are goofy looking. Some people just don’t have the time to invest in a wife. I feed her and listen to her. I’ll take out the garbage. I’ve gotta put together a business plan and propose it to SWMBO.

Actually, that could be a real growth opportunity!

We could start with Virtual Snakes and other herps, and then move into Virtual Cats and Dogs (I think they already rent real cats and dogs in some big cities, especially in Japan). From there, we could rent Virtual Kids and Virtual Husbands and Wives. The really cool thing about this business model is that 1 husband, wife, or snake, could be rented to HUNDREDS (or MORE!) of customers at a time! Since it would only be a VIRTUAL marriage, you wouldn't have to worry about bigamy, either! We would offer a month to month deal, or a set of free digital photo viewers with a 2 year contract. The ultimate in beautiful, non-commitment! If you are a really busy person, you could have a whole virtual family, with pets to boot! We would offer a special package price for the whole family, with pets (just like cable TV bundles!) Except for work and sleep, you could spend you ENTIRE life online! Does it get any better than that?

Wow! I am already trying to decide what to spend my $$$$ on - I'll be rich!!!

Kathy, step away from the computer. Put the mouse down, that’s a good girl. It’s going to be ok. We have a nice virtual room for you to rest in.
