Thawing the frozen pinkies...

Do I place them in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes/ warm water for several minutes. Should the belly 'squish' when poked or is it fine for it's innards to be cold. How about microwaving!? Could I put a bowl of pinkies in water in the nuker for a minute or so? (or will this create more issues than I care to think) How do I know that my snakes won't burn their lips when eating? (it may feel fine to me)
Don't laugh. I'm serious. I have read worse things around here, lately. :sidestep:
Perhaps I'll just keep feeding live. It seems easier.

Place them in a cup with hot tap water. Leave for severalminutes and they should be thawed all theway through, and pat them dry with some paper towel. (some snakes Like clean food ;) )

I have a small cup that I fill half full of water. Then I pop the cup into the microwave for 30 seconds so the water is very warm but not hot. Then, I add the pinkies. I take the pinkies out after 5 minutes and towel dry them off then start feeding them to the snakes. With adult mice I use a larger cup but do the same procedure twice and leave the mouse in the water longer. I just feel the mouse to make sure its thawed. Sometimes it takes three times in the cup. It's fairly quick and easy or at least I think so. And some people just leave them out until they get to room temp.

I heat the water in the microwave too. I tried a mouse once. Kaboom! Luckily I had wrapped it in a paper towel. I don't even really dry the mouse much. Just get the soaking water off, and leave it fairly damp. I figure it hydrates them a bit with the water. I make sure the mouse is quite warm all the way through. I find they feed better when the temperature of the thawed mouse is close to the temp of a live animal (100 degrees F).

I do the same Meg, I find if I dry them off more, Treasure isn't as interested! he likes them nice and wet LOL, don't think Hunter has a preferance... he just sees mouse, hunts mouse, swallows mouse LOL
