The mutt gets a haircut (and lots of other dog pics)

So the mutt was over do for a grooming... Tell me what you think of Mackenzy's new do. ;)

And after:

And now, a few others from our off leash run today, including two VERY rare and VERY beautiful sight hounds...

Aisha, the dessert bred Saluki... she is straight from Israel.

(Yes, she is underweight - she's recovering from an illness and has a few more pounds to go, but Salukis are extremely thin by nature anyway.)

Boogie, the Ibizan hound

Both dogs are champion lure coursers. We were so lucky to meet them! Absolutely amazing creatures.

My friend's pit/Dalmatian/JRT cross (or something like that), Kaylee:

My brother's boxer, Oscar:

Oscar and lab pup making out (ew).

The Loch Ness Monster... oh wait, it's Mackenzy.

And a pretty nature shot:

Mackenzy looks great with the new haircut. The other doggies are all goregous too. I relly like the Ibizan hound and your brother's boxer. I want another doggy now lol.

Is Aisha's breed supposed to look that skinny? I know certain breeds like greyhound are skinny looking but I would want to feed her a whole bag of dog food a day lol.

Thanks!

Aisha is underweight because she's recovering from an illness. They are naturally very skinny anyway, but she should look more like the Ibizan does. Fewer ribs, a little less boney, etc. Don't worry, her owner is feeding her very well. ;)

Okay, I didn't know if that was how they naturally look or if she was a rescue or was sick but since she was sick so that makes sense.

Beautiful dogs Emily. The Saluki is absolutely gorgeous, and I hope she's on the rebound of her bout with an illness. The others look amazing too, but I've always found Saluki's to be really amazing looking dogs, and I hope to one day see one in person. I watched an amazing program on them, and their use in hunting in the middle east, and I was very impressed. Not only for their amazing prowess in the field, but also the relationship they had built with their trainers.

Thanks for sharing!

They're not SOOOO much heavier than that at their normal weight. They're slightly built sighthounds. So it's not as if you're looking at a Rottweiler that looks that skinny.

So amazing in person... especially because she is a true blue dessert bred animal... nothing has been overdone for the show ring... she's functional and beautiful!

That's what I've heard. They were said to be slightly slower than the Greyhound in short distances, but they have much more endurance and stamina, which enables them to be far superior for dessert hunting.

Not superior to me . . . I am actually a fantastic dessert-hunter in the desert! :roflmao:

Ok, at least Michael did it too.... I feel a little better.

Yes, I did mean DESERT dogs, not DESSERT dogs...

I couldn't make fun until two people did it. But the dessert-hunting was just too good to pass up after I just got back stuffed from a dinner party!

Hey, my dog's a great dessert hunting animal... You should see her find a cupcake... It's a beautiful thing.

That's funny :)! I actually had it [desert] spelled properly, but I saw that Emily spelled it dessert, and I didn't want to look foolish. How I didn't catch myself... Who knows? But it was past midnight, so I have that as my excuse ;)!

Stunning dogs, all of them! The saluki is amazing. I'm sure she'll be absolutely breath-taking once she gets a little weight back on. =)

Of course, I'm a sucker for that boxer... He's gorgeous! Love the "making out with the lab" pic... My little old boxer lady does that with my mom's corgi super-mutt sometimes. It's usually because the mutt did something to annoy/upset Sammy, the boxer... Then realized her mistake... Which is always followed by either Sammy snapping at the mutt, or the mutt distracting Sammy with a barrage of kisses on the lips. I wonder if it was the same situation there? Boxers are absolute suckers for kisses! Lol. =)

Lol!!! Forget you guys and your lousy dessert-hunters. Fish dogs are where it's at. You want to see graceful and agile? Come on over with a plate of smoked salmon. My baby boy will hunt it down and wipe it out in no time, no matter where you hide it... And he won't even get a tummy ache. ;)
(Coincidentally, my "fish" dog very precisely "hunted" two Costco-sized cupcakes just today... Then he "hunted" a chunk of fresh sturgeon right out of my hand.)
