I discovered podcasts last night. I have a good 1000 trying to download in iTunes. My favorite so far is How Stuff Work's Stuff You Missed in History Class. I can't wait until Tuesday when I get my first ever Comcast install done. Faster downloads!

What are some podcasts you listen to? Where do you get them and why do you like them?

I get all my podcasts from iTunes. My favorites are The Moth, RISK!, This American Life, 3 Wine Guys, Gun Talk, Gun Dudes, APM: A Prairie Home Companion, Filmspotting, Coverville, Handgun Podcast, SnakeBytes TV, Wild Animals I Have Known, BTR: Reptile Radio and Zen and the Art of Triathlon.

Oohh I gotta look up that triathalon one! For hobbies I have a dog trick one and Paleo talk.

I listen to a number of CBC ones...they are the best & usually funny, educational, witty! :)
Some of my favs are DNTO, Ideas, White Coat Black Art.

I also LOVE the news so I tuned into many stations too- NBC Nightly news, NBC today show, MSNBC Rachel Maddow (...see a pattern here? :p I think NBC is just a fan of free podcasts).

Here's a list of the ones I'm trying out for now:

German-Podcast.de (Learn German)
JapanesePod101.com (Learn Japanese)
SpanishPod101.com (Learn Spanish)
MacCast
MonsterTalk (I think this is cryptozoology)
Mysterious Universe
Naked Archaeology
Old Time Radio Thrillers (Not sure what this is yet)
Psychology in Everyday Life: The Psych Files
Stuff You Missed In History Class
Stuff You Should Know
This Week In Virology
Twilight Series Theories: A Twilight Podcast
Typical Mac User Podcast
Wildlife Highlights, HD, Short Version

What is Snakebytes about?

i love podcasts! i like listening to them while cleaning, getting ready for whatever or trying to fall asleep. the only one i am listening to right now is the /filmcast. its pretty good if you are into all things movie.

You know, I'm 16.. and still don't even really know what Podcasts are.

Don't feel bad. I'm 51 and don't know what they are either. But then, I don't even own a cell phone or iPod or anything in that genre so really don't need to know until one of children start asking for them.

You guys are killing me!! Podcasts are a miracle of listening entertainment!! No more having to listen to the crappy radio, or the same songs on an iPod, over and over and over. Now there is fresh content about _anything_ you could possibly be interested in, updated all the time! You could _never_ run out!!

Shensi, do you have iTunes? Open it up, go to the iStore, just browse through the podcasts. There has to be something you're interested in.

My favorites are RISK! and The Moth, which are people telling stories from their lives. This American Life is kind of the same thing, but more G or PG rated. More along a theme for the week.

I finally listened to one of my Monster Universe podcasts. It's just like a radio station I used to listen to that was all about UFOs and such. The great thing is: no commercials and you can skip over something boring. I aqcuired several more and now have just over 4300 to download because I want to listen to the backlog.
