Thermostat probe question

So my new thermostat finally arrived. It is the one several people recommended from amazon. My question is with this one where do I place the probe? Under the tank wedged between the glass and Uth or in the cage under the substrate on top of the Uth?

I place mine on the inside the tank, positioned in the middle of the heat pad between the glass and substrate

I do the same as Frogman. I want to regulate the temp where the snake can get to. I also have another thermometer probe placed next to the thermostat probe to double check.

I don't like to put my t-stat probe inside the enclosure. If the snake should manage to move it somehow, then it won't be able to properly control the temps and the snake could get overheated.

I put a thermometer probe in the hottest place in enclosure, generally under the substrate, in the middle of the UTH. Then I put the t-stat probe directly in contact with the UTH (or other heat source). I start by setting the t-stat to the desired temp, then tweak as necessary (usually have to raise it several degrees) to get the thermometer probe inside the tank reading the correct temperature.
