Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

This may be helpful to some...

No sorry. I mainly use web based email and when I don't, I use Microsoft Outlook. My favorite email program is Outlook Express though. It's easy to use and does the job well. Not much more I want from email. I only use the full version because my dsl software set it up for me and I didn't feel like changing lol. I like Firefox too but I couldn't get the menu bar as small as I could with IE. Having a notebook made that an important feature.

Sorry I couldn't offer any alternatives there but I bet the Firefox one is a good one.

Well, after what Kathy said, I wouldn't want to try it. I wouldn't want to take the chance of losing saved emails that were important to me.

I'd just like to second the GIMP recommendation. I downloaded it about a month ago, and have had absolutely no problems with it so far. It's about as powerful as photoshop, but free and it has so many features, I'm nowhere near finished experimenting yet.

Definitely definitely gets the thumbs up from me.

A program I enjoy using is Bit Comet for downloading Torrents. I only use this program to down load TV shows. But its great for downloading media files and the like.

Recommended email programs?!

I do NOT want to use Outlook Express, but am getting kinda frustrated with my Pegasus Mail that I have been using for years. Any other suggested email programs?

I have given up on Outlook or Outlook Express and I am now only using Gmail.
I know it is a pain when you have connectivity problems but, still, it is better than Outlook and Outlook Express ;)

I agree with Kathy, Mozilla Firefox is great and I could not imagine not having it anymore.

Regarding Downloading (naughty!), I prefer LimeWire.

Another browser window I enjoy is Opera. It has a memory on the last window you were using. Lets say you were in Cornsnakes.com and closed the window. Next time you open it, it will have that same page you closed it on. It also allows multiple tabs like firefox and will import all your favorites from IE.

I have used Opera for an afternoon but I hated it as I did not find the mouse movement to go back, etc... practical and would sometimes go back to the previous page by mistake.
Well, it didn't fit me but, hey, we are all different and I heard a lot of people that really liked it.
:shrugs:
