Toledo Zoo Pics

hope is not a strategy
I couldn't stand to stay indoors another second...so I snatched up my camera and headed for the Toledo Zoo. Normally you can walk through in an hour but I stretched it out to 4 hours and got my $$$ worth. The majority of my time was spent in the reptile house...go figure! OK enough talking. Here's a few pics...

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Nanci! IRL the Aruba was almost HypoLav colors...but I played with the contrast too much.

Don't you want to just run your finger down his spine? :) I love the conda, too. There's a super-tame anaconda that has been going to local shows as an ambassador snake, Andy. He is so sweet!

Umm No...I'm a scaredy cat! That's an odd ambassador snake, isn't it? As I was leaving the reptile house, they were getting out a Burm for the kids to see. All the parents were running for the doors!

Great pictures, I really like them. It looks like a Sanz Boa (Madagascan Tree Boa), on the Dumeril's Boa (Madagascan Ground Boa).

Is that what he is? As far as I saw, they only had the Dumerils labeled. I just assumed it was a goofy looking juvy. :D

Real Dumerils???

I'm almost positive it's a Madagascan Tree Boa, which would make sense seeing it's with a Madagascan Ground Boa (Dumerils). I'm not an expert by any means, but I've seen some before, and know they're both from Madagascar. The Dumerils Boa is shaped similar to a Common Boa, and the Sanz Boa (hope that's what it's supposed to be called), has more pronounced heat pits, and a rounder head more like other tree Boas, as well as other color/pattern differences. I'm not trying to sound like a know it all, sorry if it sounds like I'm nit picking your thread, it was just an observation.

They do have very similar patterns, but the heads are quite different. I really like your photos though, and I wish I had a zoo in my area!

I didn't think you were picking on me at all! I would hope people would correct me if something was mislabeled.

And after looking at your links, I would have to agree with you. Good call!
