Hello There..... I Am Hoping An Expert Cornsnake Person Can Look At This Picture I Have Attatched And Tell Me What Color/pattern Morph You Would Call This Adult Female?
I Added Her To My Collection From A Private Individual Who Knew Very Little About The Snakes....they Had Belonged To Her Son,and He Moved Away To Go To College. I Would Like To Breed Her Next Year, and Would Like Some Suggestions On What Color/pattern Morph Male To Use..... I Really Like This "confetti" Looking Pattern ,so I'm Wanting A Male Who Would Compliment Her Coloring......any Suggestions Or Opinions Out There???
Dazed And Confused....kat

I'm almost sure this isn't a pure Corn... I think it's a Black Ratsnake Albino...
It looks very nice though!!!

The shape of the head makes me think of a guttata/spiloides (grey rat) hybrid. The white edges of the scales seem to confirm that. Not sure though ;)

See how easily our "Corn Pool" gets hybrid blood in it all of the time. I agree with the position that it is a Gray Rat hybrid. There is a lot of them around being called Frosted or Rusty Corns.

Kat, your snake is very nice. I was just using it as a point for another thread. We loose track of hybrids all of the time and they get bred to Corns and then sold as "Pure". I would recommend one of the Frosted Corns as a good mate for your snake. It looks like an Albino Frosted Corn to me.

Thanks For Your Opinions......

Response From Corn Guru.....

GOOD MORNING ALL.....JUST AN UPDATE ON MY MYSTERY CORN..
I RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM KATY LOVE HERSELF.....THOUGHT I'D SHARE HER THOUGHTS......
KAT

The photo is not the best close-up to say for sure. I have never seen an amel corn that faded looking. Usually albino black rats have that faded look. But the head and the blotch shape look pretty much cornsnake. I guess there could be some rat snake in the ancestry, though. Hard to say. My guess is a really faded amel (albino) corn. Usually, the more faded they are, the older they are (but not always). So she could be pretty old.

Sorry, can't help more than that.

Good luck!
