Vanay- Anery ugly progression

Well, the little creature has finally shed for me, so I figured I'd post pictures of my rather melanistic who-knows-anery. She's starting to calm down a little too so maybe someday I'll get more pictures with her *head* in it.

First up is a pic I took the day I got her.

Then when I pulled her out for a photo shoot. The two photos show just how much of an effect a flash can have on a snake's true color.

Without flash:

And with flash, that washed her out:

Now a couple days ago... In shed!

And now today in her pretty new skin!

She's such a cutie. She is so dark, I wonder if she will stay that way. Keep us posted. :)

You know, she still looks like a charcoal to me ;) Just something about her that looks charcoal.. ;) I think shes pretty, not ugly ;) Wait till she gets a bit bigger, shes only gonna get prettier..

I'm glad you all like her. *grins* I do as well, but since it will be three years until I can test breed her, for now I'm assuming "anery A" because of her lighter-than-charcoal eyes. And for an anery A hatchling... she be oogly. Doesn't mean I don't love her and think she's gorgeous in her own way, just for her potential morph she's not exactly an attractive specimen. :p

I do really really hope she ends up being a charcoal just for the "heehee! charcoal from Petco!" factor and I hope that she gets waaaaay darker as she ages!

I agree that she looks like a Charcoal, I've had mine since she was a wee 20g and she's 415 now. And she really looked like that when she was teeny.

Update on Vanay. She's 11 grams today!

.... And yeah, imageshack got hacked in case you hadn't noticed. -_-

Well, the silly creature shed without me noticing her in blue so I thought I'd post more pics.

First two are from the day before she shed. Latter three were taken today. I love how dark her tail gets in the sunlight. :D

Mostly just experimenting with the blue pleather I got as a background and got a couple shots. She weighs 19 grams now.

You know what she now reminds me of? An anery Upper Keys! The belly and overall coloration is similar to the '08 female I have.

Vanay shed last night! WOOT!

vane9shed1.jpg

This is the only semi-whole body shot I could get of her. She was miss cranky pants for her photo shoot.

vane9shed2.jpg

I'm still very much in love with her odd grey-brown tones on the front half. She's much darker towards her tail. She is definitely getting more brown on her ground color as time passes.

vane9shed3.jpg

Her eye color is another wonderful conundrum. I wonder if her ground color will end up the same as her eyes or if it will stay so different a contrast.

vane9shed4.jpg

Tummy shot! :D

vane9shed7.jpg

Her rainbow tendencies are definitely my favorite. I wasn't able to get a shot of it, but even just after shed her body still reflects blue at the right angle. And only blue, which makes her head colors even prettier in my opinion.

vane9shed6.jpg

This shows the brown creeping into her ground color very well, and this is probably the best shot I have of her bizzarro head pattern.

She really does look like an ugly anery... aka charcoal ;) If you still think shes ugly after all these sheds, I am willing to take on such a charity case :)

Vanay shed today! She's getting really really light looking, and those square patches in her saddles are starting to fade away. ;_; So sadded.

She also completely, 100% refuses to sit still for even a moment. Bloody snake.

vanay116.jpg

Stuck her in a bin at first, but because it's still morning there wasn't good light getting into it.

vanay111.jpg

Then began the "holding you whether you like it or not"-phase of photo taking.

vanay112.jpg

I bet I looked really weird to anyone who was walking/driving by. I was flat on my stomach, one arm stretched out holding a flailing snake and the other with a camera tucked to my face. It was the only way to not cover her in shadows.

vanay113.jpg

Tummy shot! She has freckles. :3 I love how the checkers themselves are not a solid patch of color.

vanay115.jpg

"Hmmmn.... am I close enough to be able to bite Mom?"

vanay114.jpg

"No? Well fine! :p Have what could have been a truly awesome tongue shot.... HA!"

I really love how clean her pattern is and that everything is bordered in black! Oh, and BLACK TONGUE! So cute! :D

I end up laughing like a looney when I'm trying to get 'natural shots' of a wriggly snake, getting my hand in the shot perfectly focussed and a blurry head!
Vanay's growing well, and definately an interesting and beautiful little corn.
