vivarium temps

I was wondering about the cool side of my vivarium, it has been getting down in the upper 30's low 40's outside and the tempertures in my snake vivarium have gotten down to 67 degrees during the night. The warm side is around 84 to 86 degrees. We have an older house so I have to run the furnace alot to keep it around 70 degrees. But I was wondering if I should get a space heater or what other people do when it gets colder like this, and another thing my corn has been staying on the cool side even int he middle of the night when the temperture is dropping below 70. I've just been a little worried that it might effect his health.

67 is okay if he has access to 84F. I probably wouldn't worry too much even if he drops down to 78-80 during the night. You can wrap fluffy towels around the back and sides of his viv to prevent heat loss, and put a towel over the screen lid. I use towels to seal around the edges of the bottom of the tanks in the winter, to keep cooler air from getting in to the heat source. It might be a good idea to put a probed thermometer that records high and low temps in, with one probe on each side. Just so you know what is going on during the night.

Okay, I will definitly try that. I have an accurite indoor outdoor thermometer with the probe on the warmside. Thanks.
