Watch eggs hatch live on cam!

Yep, it's a lovely little anery tessera! Finally :D Was beginning to fear that in 6 eggs, there wouldn't be a single tessera. No amels or snows though, so better luck next time. Still... anery tesseras are one of my favorite morphs, I love the pattern and the contrast :D

Jace, Tessera is dominant. A snake can't be het tessera. Well, technically, if it has one tessera gene, it _is_ het tessera, but it expresses the gene. There is only one known homo tessera snake, a "super" tessera, owned by Rich Hume.

I knew Tessera was dominant I just didn't realize there were so few homo Tesseras out there. So typically all Tesseras are considered to carry only one copy of the gene? And that baby definitely looks like an Anery Tessera to me :) I'm still pretty new to the genetics aspect of corns, but the only way to learn is to ask questions.

Yep, the far majority of tesseras are "het tesseras". You would only get homozygous tesseras from breeding tessera x tessera, but since people prefer to breed other morphs into tessera that's not done very often :)

Does that last egg have two heads in it or is that its body peeking out the other crack?!?! I can't tell. And dang it, I missed the last one too! Even propped the phone up tobwatch and fell asleep! Bet it's beautiful though!

As far as I can tell, it's just one head. Too bad, because it would have been amazing to get two from a single egg ^^

I've seen a few photos of twins. Would have made an even more exciting clutch. :) I bet the tessera is really pretty though! The rest are! And what a trickster that little faux motley is lol.

Here's a nice little brain teaser for you - all hatchlings in the same clutch are twins ;) Or well, in this case, sextuplets :D

In which case, what would you call two in one egg? Lol. All this genetics stuff is so neat. Need to learn more for sure! Love learning. :)

Identical twins or homo-zygotic twins :D

For now, I introduce to you my lovely little anery tessera! He's a little bit skittish so it was hard to get good pics, but here are the least terrible ones :p I love his side patterning and practically clean belly :D

Very neat. I'm glad you got a tessera. Interesting how tessera bellies are not the same from one snake to another. My tessera has tons of checkers.

Yea, the different bellies are also quite interesting to me :D His mom, Lilith, has a white piece of belly, but also many checkers. Here's an old picture of her first shed with me, some years ago:

Thanks for the kind comments guys, I love him too :D And now, there's just one hatchie left, and then there will be the post-hatching gloom :p

The last one hatched right during a graded practical, so I couldn't watch :( Here he is anyway. He's incredibly cute, and tried to climb straight onto my hand from the beginning. Such a curious and cute little snake :D
