Waterproofing Zilla critter cage for newts? Bad idea?

Alright, I wanted to see what people thought about this...

Our corn snake just moved from a 20 gal up to a 30 gal. With the now vacant 20 gal, I was wondering if we could put newts in there. I know they are primarily aquatic, so the tank would have to have water in it...

Could Zilla critter cages be made suitable for this with some added waterproofing? Or is this just a bad idea?

Thanks!

Bad idea. The glass used to build those things is paper thin. And the seals are made airtight, but not to resist the force of water. I have used them for moist terrariums for tree frogs and such, but most newt's whole adult stage is fully aquatic. Buy a 10 gallon tank, they are like 12 bucks. Use that critter cage for a new snake!

Dang, I thought I could get away with it if it was just a few inches of water. We'll get something in that 20 gal. :)
