Not much is known about it, but the guy that had it couldn't keep
it and was just going to let it go...
He got it from a friend, who got it from a friend .. etc...
So I took him thinking I could do better for it than setting it loose..
(not known if C/B or W/C) seems pretty laid back to be W/C..
It ate a F/T mouse with out issue..

Wow, he's beautiful! I wish deals like that would fall in my lap. Way to go, Giant!

do gophers hiss as much as bulls do?

Anyway, nice find. You need to mail me some of that luck, you have way to much of it.

Yes, they do unless they are a pacific gopher. All my pines, gophers and bulls his loudly and show who is boss but the pacific gophers are like owning corn snakes on steroids. Big gentle snakes that will tail rattle and thats it.

Not a bad looker but not sure on the age, I am thinking A P. c. deserticola, Great Basin Gopher on this one Gene.

Thanks Jim, I'm not a "Pit" kinda guy.. so I was being general.. LOL

Thanks Mindy, this guy hasn't hissed or rattled me YET.. but I've heard
some hiss rather loudly (if I can hear it you know it's loud.. LOL)

Pacific gophers, like the rest of them, are individuals. Some put up a racket hissing, and others don't.

I have Great Basin Gophers in my area.. Some hiss and bluff like crazy, others I can reach down and pick them up, being as mild as our most mild corn.. *shrugs* I agree with KJ, each one is different...

Nice animal. I've never had a gopher snake hiss at me and I've caught a lot of them. For the most part they've been a laid back snake overall. Since it's illegal to release a snake into the wild..even if it was originally w/c, it's best to keep it.

Thanks All for the replies..
This one has been real cool thus far.. not rattled or hissed.
It will be in a new home soon..
