Went "blue" but didn't shed?

Hey so I've had Stella for a few weeks now - and friday was feeding day, but when I went to check on her - her eyes were very cloudy (opaque, blue) and though she must be going into shed. I went and put a damp paper towel under her hide and left her be for the past 3 days. She remained in that hid the whole time - and I went to check on her today and her eyes are no longer opaque yet she hasn't shed (Skin on the top of her head still looks all dried but still attached.)

Is she just starting or?

She's nearing the completion of the shed cycle, and is now in the clear phase. Expect her to shed at any moment, probably within the next 24 hours.

Thank you for your response. Will she still need a damp hide because that paper towel is not so damp anymore.

Also - what are the stages of shedding? I'm very new to snakes and just thought that it took a few days for them to shed out of their skin.

Thanks, this helps me too! My amel female has some dry skin on her head but no signs of any other shed. I was a bit worried about her. It didn't look like it was stuck on her or left over from a shed. So I was wondering as well. It is very hard for me to tell when she or my snow corn goes into blue. I usually just end up finding the full shed in their cage. I have up'd the humidity on all my snakes, my baby classic is in blue at the moment as well.

First you will notice (or not) the snake looking darker than normal- especially with bloodreds, normals, etc.

Next, the snake will go into hiding. It will usually have blue (or pink in amel morphs) eye caps and belly scales, and the whole snake can take on a bluish (or pinkish) tint.

Finally, the snake will come out of hiding and be "clear," it will look like it has shed, but you can't find the shed. The snake will shed very soon- in the next couple days.

The whole process takes a couple weeks, or less if you aren't sensitive to discovering the beginning of the shed cycle.

Thanks Nanci, I check my snakes every morning. I take each one out of their vivs and inspect (for lack of a better word) them to make sure all is well! Sometimes the light is not so good in my sons room and I havent been able to wear my glasses due to surgery on my nose. So its been a bit hard to see if they are in blue.

My snow resently regurged on friday and when I went to pick him up he had a waxy, rubbery feeling so I believe he was in blue when I had fed him on tuesday. It seems all my snakes in the process of sheding this week, so I have delayed feeding on our regular tuesday. I am doing the regurge plan for my snow as well!

Again, thank you for the info! <3

My snow takes a long time to shed. He's now in the gray stage. Once it clears I'll begin misting the tank and give him a humid hide. It takes him two-three weeks to complete the full shed cycle.

My snakes are in tanks so I partially cover the screens with plastic to help hold in the humidity and add an extra water bowl over the heating pad.

That is awesome advice thanks! I checked on my amel today and it seems she just went into blue... under a light I could tell her eyes were cloudy! Yay! My classic just begun the clear stage LOL They all seem to be sheding around the same time! So I postponed todays feeding!
This will help with my hubby's new python too... We live in the desert and its so very dry here naturally. I have to sleep with a cool mist humidifer at night for myself!

So I'm kind of confused on the shedding cycle. Last Friday when I was about to feed - I noticed my snakes eyes were cloudy. I remember hearing that's a sign of shedding. So I let her be and have been giving her a humid hide and she has been inside of it up to today - the first time she came out. She is now in the "clear" stage which takes a couple weeks yet?

Should I keep supplying a humid hide and should I feed her at all? Or feed after she has completed shedding.

Hi -

my snake was blue last Monday- I did feed her Thursday, figured she could eat or not, left it up to her and she ate. Yesterday or the day day before I found her head shed. I checked on her today but I don't think he whole body is done. Maybe about 2-3 behind her head. Is this normal? Should i mist her, the whole tank? one of my others is blue now. Can I mist in Aspen?

Thanks!

I'm probably gonna separate them again and mist her and Khol who is blue now. Put the other 2 in the totes and hope they stay warm enough. I hope to get out tomorrow, and I hope my money comes thru and I should pick up the heating pad for the 2 in the totes. I just hate spending More money when my vivs should be here soon.

Yes, they are all together for now. I've ordered vivs for each snake. They will arrive shortly I hope. I know not to cohab. I was afraid they were too cold when they were in the totes.

I just put Khloe in a little bath and it's already helping her shed. I've also misted the tank.

To make a humid hide just put moist paper towel in it? wont that eventually just get cold? Or put it in part of each hide since I don't know which one she will choose?
