I tried searching and looking at the various FAQs, but I'm a bit confused about the blurbs of people's signature lines. Let's take Nanci's for example:

0.0.1 Classic Corn "Maizey" 0.0.2 Desert Torts "Koko" & "Buttercup"
0.0.1 Cali King "Choco" 0.1 Nelson's "Inez"
Pineapple 1.0 Tri Hog "Zee" 0.0.1 Eastern Hog "Addy"
1.0 Eastern Box "Fagalo" 1.0 Florida Box "Krusty"

I understand that she's listing the different morphs o' corns that she owns, and that some folks list all their pets (and children and husbands) but what's the deal with the 0.0.1s and the 1.0s?

Thats the sex of the snake. male.female.unsexed

So I have 2.1 That means I have 2 males and 1 female and 0 unsexed.
 
Wow! I'm glad it's something that I couldn't have guessed easily. :) That's a great way of posting lots of info! Is there a term for that shorthand and does it have it's root in biology or wildlife study? Just curious.
 
This question seems to crop up a lot.... i know i was totally flummoxed by the numbers when i first came to the site. Maybe this could be made a sticky, or something added to the New Members FAQ??
 
Yikes, I'm the example!! (Because I have the coolest collection! :sidestep: )

To add to the above- when you have an animal of unknown sex, you would list it as 0.0.1 Cali King. But if you know the sex of all of that type, you can leave off the right-most decimal place. 1.0 Florida Box Turtle.

(I unfortunately only have one morph o' corn- not because I wouldn't love to have, say, a beautiful Bloodred, but because people keep giving me other stuff! Well, except I have this thing for tri-color red/black/white snakes- no one ever gives me any of those...)
