can anyone tell me what mouth rot or any other typical infection would look like? my baby albino has weird black markings in the corner of his mouth that came off yesterday in the shed.
My snow has a tiny black marking on one side of her mouth too. It doesn't seem to affect her eating or her general health and I don't see any mucous. Thus I believe (or at least hope) its not mouth rot.
my albino babe has something similar...i assumed it was dirt until someone on here suggested otherwise. whatever it was, it mostly came off during his bath time yesterday. it was after he chucked up that i notice the brown areas. hopefully that teensy area that is left will come off with his next sheddy.
can someone that is experiencing this post some pictures so that the rest of us can see? I have a 3 year old snow and have not noticed anything like this, but would like to know more what I am looking for.
Mouth rot would look like cottage cheese was stuck in it's teeth. It would also look like it it's mouth was watering. A lot of times they will begin to have their mouth seal shut from the build up of mucus.
Abnormal closure of a snake's mouth may be a clue
Small red spots of Hemorrhage.
Both signs me also occur immidiately after a meal.
More definitive signs of infection are swelling, dicoloration of the mouth, and a cheezy ooze along the gumline. Advanges stomatitis may be accompanied my excessive mucus to the mouth.
Nasty stuff. This is a healthy snake mouth
Yeah, i just had to show off. Kira is so good to yawn at specific times so i can grab my camera.
You would know. It's pretty obvious. Their gums swell and they have difficult in closing their mouths from the build up of the yellowish mucus that forms. The cottage cheese thing was actually quite a good description.
My female sunglow this year buried into the vermiculite when she was nesting and caused herself to get this infection and she did indeed feel very sorry for herself - as did I. I didn't think to take any photo's though which is most unlike me.
