I live in Northeast Missouri. Two days ago I found a hatchling snake on my front steps. I would have swore it was a Great Plains ratsnake (it looked just like my baby corns, xcept grey with dark brown/black saddles ) BUT then I looked up pics on hatchling bullsnakes , great plains ratsnakes , and black ratsnakes. They ALL looked like my little visitor!! Is there ANY way to find out what it was without waiting 3 years for it to grow up? Btw...I have a corn field on one side, a hay field on the other and ponds behind the house. It did not try to bite but it did go into a strike position when I tried to get a close up pic of it . 10 - 14 inches long, nice and chubby compared to my corns when they hatched.
Thanks!
