What to do about escapes?

Sticking To The Ceiling
Let's pretend it DID not happen, 'kay? Scenario only. :headbang:

So, what do you do if a mouse gets out somehow?

As in a way to catch them without (hopefully) killing them.

Sorry, brain is working right at 4:30am with blood pouring off my finger.

He'll be where the food is! With any luck he'll hang out close to his friends, so just keep an eye out. Leave food and water outside the cage and a cozy little place to sleep.

SOmeone posted an idea for a trap awhile ago. basically you set a paper towel tube off the edge of a table or similar, with a garbage can underneath it. Bait the end of the tube wih peanut butter. Mouse goes down the tube to et the bait and the tube (with the mouse) falls in to the garbage can where it can't get out.

You can also purchase live traps.

Me I don't worry too much about mousey escapes I have too many cats, escapes don't last long. Although I did find one on my kitchen counter once LOL.

Ah, these are helpful. Thanks! :D

Now if only I had recognized that the mouse I found on the floor was a wild one and not one of mine. The bite still hurts!

One of my breeders got out a few months ago and hung out in my book shelf. I put some food and a water bottle in an empty tank. She eventually climbed into it to get food/water. I decided to keep her due to the sheer intelligence.

'Course I did. It was my fault she escaped anyways. I'm glad I bred her too. Got a pair of long haired babies out of her.

 Yay interesting babies!

You have no idea. Mother of the escaped female was bred to a black broken marked male. Escaped female was bred back to her father and escaped while i was moving her out of the tank. I caught her and put her back in her tank. Few days later, I got a health litter of 11 pups. The pups resulted in: 1 albino, 1 broken marked dove, 2 solid doves, 3 broken marked blacks, and 4 solid blacks. Two of which are long haired. A male and female pair, to boot.

It isn't that good lol. I was mainly taking a picture of the tank set up. I'd have to go through and take better pictures of everyone.
