Where do you buy your supplies?

Let me start by saying I'm looking to cause any arguments or if this is allowed. That being said, unfortunately I haven't found any local pet stores that I like (or aren't mega-chains) so I've decided to go the on-line route for supplies. Just wanted to see what sites are the best (best CS/speediness of order/prices/accuracy of info on product/etc) or just what sites everyone else prefers. Thanks

I use petmountain.com for my heat pads, lizard lights, calcium, and other miscellaneous needs. I've never had any issue with them and they always ship pretty quickly (like 4-5 days). I buy my mice, rats, and asf locally from breeders.

Agreed on the Bean Farm, great people with good products and good prices. I've used Pet Mountain only once, for UVB lights, and the shipping was quick and everything arrived in one piece.

Another good one is Reptile Basics Inc (http://reptilebasics.com). I've never personally ordered from them, but heard good things. Carolina Pet Supply (http://www.carolinapetsupply.com/catalog/), too; only ordered from them once, but it was a good transaction.

For feeders, RodentPro.com and TheMouseFactory.com are good. RodentPro for price and bulk, TheMouseFactory for quality of product and packaging (and still very reasonable prices for lower quantity orders). If you have insectivores, I've had nothing but good experiences with MulberryFarms.com, not to mention their selection is pretty fantastic.

Just what comes to mind right now. Hope it helps. :)

I am not sure how this could start an arguement.:shrugs: I don't have anything to add. It has been a long time since I have bought stuff other than bedding which I get a my local pet store and mice that I get from RodentPro. So I to could find this thread helpful in the future.

Let's see...heating coil and thermostats..(I dont remember but will need more, will find some online)
Shelving for my tubs ( I had the heat coil routed in with flashing over it), Home Depot or Lowes....
Flashing, Home Depot or Lowes.
Tubs, Wally World
Bedding, aspen from Tractor Supply or newspaper
Mice, a local guy who delivers to me at work.
Waterbowls, Wally World or anywhere else convienient.

Not saying it will, just saying that this is the internet and stranger things have happened. Someone might mention a website that someone had a poor experience, or something like that?

Oh sweety, you underestimate us ! :)
In the case of something like that, YOU would not be attacked, but the someone who had a bad experiance might tell about it and maybe redirect you to a better place.
(this place really can be quite friendly, honestly!.....well as long as you aren't a troll, don't abuse animals (including feeders, they can feel pain too), and want to put the health and well being of your snakes first) :)
This is THE best place to learn all about cornsnakes and some of the best breeders in the whole world live here!

Perfectly said:)

I use lllreptile, they are fast shippers and Ive not had a problem even with crickets. They seem to have the best prices too.I also have used Beanfarm, a bit expensive but fast and efficient.I wouldnt buy cages from either place though, its cheaper if you go direct to the cage/enclosure websites then to order from a middleman.

I order my roaches from a place called Gulf Coast crickets. They dont have crickets yet but the price of the turkistans is awesome and never a dead roach in the box.

Along the same lines here, where do you get a retostat??? One came with my rack set but other than that, I've never seen one at the pet stores or reptile shows in my area. ( Of course I wasn't really LOOKING for one at the last show I went to.) Since I plan on brumating at least ONE snake this winter and our house gets rather cold, I might need one!

Devon

Devon, a lamp dimmer is essentially a rheostat, just not marketed for use with a heat source.

I keep an ongoing list of all that stuff, in my signature link. Please keep the original topic of the thread going, so I can add new links there, thanks, dp

For feeders to suppliment what I produce myself, I use RodentPro.

For tubs and water bowls, Wal-Mart can't be beat, but I have used Target when the style I prefer wasn't available at Wal-Mart.

For deli cups and heat packs, Superior Shipping Supplies as served me well.

For non-insulated boxes, I used ULINE Shipping Supplies (you really need to browse this company for all the stuff they carry)

I get all my insulated boxes and ice packs from work for free and if you have a good relationship with your local vet, ask them to save for you the insulated boxes and ice packs they get instead of throwing them away. The sizes and quality some companies use (Pfizer uses ice packs that don't get wet on the outside as it thaws and the box would be great for picnics, BBQ's and the beach) is amazing and it's a shame that they aren't recycled and are simply put in the dumpster.
