Why does my snake poop on my mum?

Everytime my mum has my cornsnake in her hands, he always poops on her? He has done it 5 times now (mum now puts on an old t shirt before I give him to her) :grin01:

He slithers up her chest and then BINGO off he goes and poops. It doesn't matter how long I've handled him before or how long since his last meal, he just sees my Mum and has to go. I'm just pleased it's mum and not me :nyah:

Your snake feels secure and comforable near your mom.
Tell her to drop it a few times so it loses that "feeling".

Just joking.
Seem like you are handing the snake about three day after feeding so keep note on your timing. And, maybe you mum should handke the snake first so you have share in the joy.

I wish I knew why.
I have a snake that always poos on me. Never on the gf, just on me.

I'd like to think that I make his muscles relax. Except now he makes mine tense up!

After you feed the snake do not bring it out until it poops in the tank. should be a few days. Snakes only poop once between meals so let it poo the tank and mum should be safe.

As mentioned, its the sudden exercise after several days of laying still and digesting that is the culprit of most poop - on - owner experiences.

Sometimes you may want to handle your snake before it has pooped.. that's fine, but keep in mind that it is fully loaded and needs to drop. Give it a bath, keep it near a sink, or have a paper towel on hand. When your snake straightens/stiffens its tail you'll know its time.

My snakes don't poop once between meals. Some poop many times and some seem to hold it for a giant poop.

Plus, some of them would never come out if I was waiting for them to poop.

ok thanx for the correction. I am no authority.

what does snake poo look like? How much comes out at once? Is it solid like rodent poop or slimy?

I have not seen my poop yet and I have had him for almost two weeks. I cant imagine it could be that much though...the feeder mice are only 1 gram each.

Very runny. It is poo/pee combined. It dries to white powder and brown solids, but if the snake is on you... ick.

I honestly don't know how so much poop can come out of little snakes.

It doesn't stink that much, though.... not like mouse poo/pee.

It is a bit like bird poop but not as much white (Urine).

And they might have pooped....my snakes seem to enjoy hiding it in their homes then watching me search for it.

FYI, as a snake's food items get larger and larger, the poop starts to smell to high heavens.

Jeff, when was the last time your snake ate? Snakes poop 3-4 days after they've eaten and as a way to mark territory. Your snake has most likley left his mark around the cage somewhere, but perhaps its to small for you to find. Small snake's poo can easily get lost or buried in their substrate.

Snake poo is mostly black/ brown with white substance as well. At first it is moist, but it dries up fairly quickly. The brown part will be solid and the white stuff will be crumbly.

Wow, that's more than I think anyone really wants to know about poop! :sidestep:

Last feeding was Wednesday night. It is now Saturday.

Yeah, probably. Cage does not smell at all though, and substrate still looks like new.

Sure it's not musk? None of my corns musk cause they are nice. But one of my kings musks my boyfriend every chance he gets. I guess he hates my boyfriend for some reason...

I tend to disagree on the idea that snake poo doesn't smell... IT DOES!

It smells, but compared to mouse poo or cat pee- not so much. My 20 snakes don't smell as much as my 1 cat's litter box. I had a mouse and you knew I had a mouse- those things can be smelly.

As mentioned earlier, when snakes are babies their poop really doesn't smell at all. It's not until the mice start getting larger that the poo starts to smell. Baby snake poo dries out really quickly and is pretty much odorless. It's probably in there somewhere.. buried. Perhaps take a paper towel corner and do a little search. Sift through the substrate, and check especially at the 4 corners of your snake's viv.

Speak of the devil...one of the few times he came out of hiding this morning, and he positioned his snake butt right in front of the glass where I was sitting, and started pooping. I got a front seat. His tail was erect while he was doing it, almost as if it was broken.

Yes, it is gross. Basically looks like pigeon poop but with black stuff. I cant smell it though.

Awesome!
Or not. You can stop wondering now, though!
