yeah but what are the other 8 million things we don't know about that are like that? personally i think butter tastes like crap on everything and margarine is delicious but that's just cause it was what i was raised on.

I always thought it interesting how margarine, before it is bleached and tinted a yellow colour, resembles greyish grease used to lube parts. Yum! ;)

I love butter! I eat butter every day! I've always thought that margarine tastes disgusting; like creamy vaseline! How can someone NOT like butter?
Mmmmm....butter. (drool)
Cool facts. Thanks.

Interesting post, Lenny.

Personally, I prefer lard. Pure, unadulterated lard. Would eat it by the handful if I could :) And I can even make soap with it!

Seriously, though, I guess I'm a butter person. I actually don't use it much. I usually will eat a dinner roll plain. IMO, certain things require butter and other things don't. Can't say that I remember ever trying margarine. Then again, I've never tried head cheese either

I use real butter for most things. I think it just makes the flavor of most things that require it that much better. It just tastes...real. Now if I could find someone with a cow so I can make butter like I used to as a child. *sigh*

I was raised on margarine, but even I like butter better.

And an interesting factoid...a tub of Shed's Spread Country Crock that rolled out of a bag of mine in the trunk stayed in the trunk for 3 weeks before I found it..and when opened, looked the same as it did when brand new. So the plastic thing doesn't surprise me in the least.

I didn't know a lot of those facts, but I'm not surprised either. When I first moved in with my ex, I went through his bachelor pad fridge. There was a tub of margarine in there that had "expired" six months previously. I opened it expecting fuzz or a funky smell. but it looked brand new!

Interesting... I've been using the margarine, b/c butter's more expensive. But after reading this thread I'm kind of grossed out. Oh well, I can always go without toast and use olive oil for cooking

Store brand butter is really cheap. You can always make your own by using milk, a little salt, and shake it in a jar. I got that from Bill Nye the science guy (I think). It actually worked. I don't remember the exact method though.
