Wilma

So cute red snake, but dangerous.
Corns aren't dangerous at all, except they are so addictive they make us spend all our money on them! They are non-venomous, stay a nice handleable size and have fairly small teeth, so even an adult that bites will barely break your skin.

It will be Wilma's second birthday tomorrow, so I took her out for some photos.

Climbing in my tree and not wanting to get untangled from it:

It's too hot outside to take very many photos, so we moved inside where it was cool:

And then she gave me a facial massage:

Thanks! She is getting big; her last weigh-in was 229 grams. It's hard for me to imagine that she's still going to get bigger, but I'm looking forward to it. :)

I fed Wilma today and she ripped the mouse off the tongs so fast and fiercely that the tail ripped off. And then she hung upside down out of her container and ate it that way.

Happy birthday (hatchday?), Wilma!

Wow, I haven't updated this thread in a while!

Wilma turns three tomorrow! She was unfortunately just turning blue for her photos. She is such a great snake. She was pretty cooperative for her photos.

I have this info posted in another thread, but I thought I would like to keep it all here. I bred Wilma with Callisto, my fire motley, and she laid 16 good eggs. She is gravid again with her second clutch. Here's a picture of her and Callisto and her pretty eggs.

I love her birthday picture! In blue or not she is beautiful. Those eggs look close, how far along are they now? Her babies going to share her birthday?

I don't think they're close yet. The shells don't feel thin. They are 55 days right now, so we still have some time. But they sure wiggle around a lot in there, though!

Bummer! Some of the spots looked more like thinning spots instead of moss stains but it is so hard to tell without feeling them. Are you getting that fresh cut pepper smell yet.yet?

No, I don't think so yet. I'll give them a good sniff before I go to bed tonight, just to double check! ;)
