Congrats! I haven't been initiated by my captive bred crew, just wild-caught and temporary guests.

What prompted it?

Well, probably handler error. I was late with dinner (and she's like a clock!) and I had had (it is Friday night) a couple drinks. .....so, instead of putting the mouse in the feeding tub, I still had it in the warm water. I got her from her viv, and she tangled around a fake bush in her viv. I pulled her out, plant and all, because I saw there was poo on the plant. Took her to her feeding bin and tried to get her to slither off the bush and into the bin, but instead she went into full on hunting mode...and there was my finger! Oh well! I was just glad the kids were at church for parents night out, because I did call her a few not-nice names. She didn't mind, but don't need the kids repeating them. :)

Haha! I had a bad one a couple of months ago. My adult female can get pretty into her meals. A lot of tail rattling. I accidentally got between her and a mouse. She got me on my finger and coiled around my wrist, causing quite a bit of blood to come out. I tried to get her to transfer her attention to the mouse, which she did, while still constricting me. I had to uncoil her to get her off. It's fun to tell people that a kitten can cause more damage than a corn snake. :)

Oh, other big thing, I did different/wrong: I heated up the mouse outside of a ziplock bag! So easy to forget how much better animals sense of smell is than ours.

Oh, yeah, rachow, she constricted my wrist pretty good. I touched the mouse to her nose, and she released and grabbed the mouse, but squeezed my wrist harder. So, I called for hubby. I could have dealt with it, but figured why not have an extra pair of hands since now she had me, the plant, and the mouse wrapped up! LOL!

I hope you took some antidote ASAP or still had enough in your system to deal with the shock!

Shoot. Had I known about this bite club, I would have entered in a photo a month ago. ;)
Nice one gsdbecca!

Fortunately, children are immune to the harmful effects of a bite, so don't have to undergo the antidote until they are 21...

i just got bit my an adult for the first time. i dropped his mouse as he was starting to strike. the babies get me constantly.

Look at that sweet face! She's obviously very sorry for her bad behavior. ;) ....and yes, my daughter is getting ready for Halloween early. LOL
