Worthless? I think not!

I think you met the bad egg in the clutch, a lot of breeders I know appreciate all morphs of corns whether they be a amel or a lavender bloodred.
Some though are resolute and believe that unless something has a monetry value that is worth while to them, then its worthless.
The snake you have is definately not worthless, reminds me of my first corn, which I would defend with my life if anyone bad mouthed him :grin01:

I agree, sadly for many people, it's about monetry value and how rare the animal is...

Personally, I think all corns are beautiful and unique, they are all special in their own individual way.

That's why I have such a problem picking a favourite morph! lol They are all lovely, just different. :)

Worthless? Nah  . No other corn can beat a classic. Calling a classic corn worthless is just like saying Fall out boy is was better than Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin who have no talent. Of course, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are greater, just like those fancy classic corns.

I think that some very good comments have been made about the point of view. From a breeders or sellers point of view, this animal may be worthless - I tend to call that the "objective" point of view. From your point of view (the subjective one), this snake has some kind of "personality" and therefore its of course not wortheless.
I just don't understand why his statement was all that bad. I would never worry about a professional cat breeder stating my common house cat is wortheless compared to my BKH. In fact, he is right from a breeders point of view. For me, there are other things that count and within this ones, my common house cat is the most beautiful cat in the world... (subjective feeling, u know?)

Well, it's not so much that I cared about his opinion, but the rudeness. He had been taking me out to dinner a lot lately, you could almost say he was my boyfriend (or he wanted to be, hehe). Of course, now he can kiss his chances with me goodbye.

It's one thing to say "you probably couldn't sell that for very much" and an entirely different thing to say "that is worthless." Strictly speaking, in the monetary sense, both statements said the same thing. In the greater sense, the latter statement shows a lack of compassion, sensitivity and maturity.

And in the OP's case, that statement also indicates an impending lack of opportunity. :sidestep:

I thinks normals are great! the only one I have is a normal! It shouldn't really matter what others say about your 'family members'. As long as you and your pet care for each other, that's reason enough to have them around.:cat: :dog: :)

I have a whole lot of normals in my collection and none are worthless! They may not sell for hundreds or thousands, but there's a timeless appeal to the orange and black coloration. There will always be people who want those "worthless" animals. I can tell you for certain as I've sold a lot of them!!! She's lovely!

How does he know that your normal isn't het for a $1000 morph? Money aside, anyone who would make a thoughtless comment such as that to someone he/she seemingly cares about shows how much they care. Not much. And to argue with you about it, thinking his point of view is more important and not understanding what you think is valuable about that snake? To the curb, baby, to the curb. I'll send you a McDonald's coupon for a free meal to make up for it! :grin01:

While it's not an Abbott's Okeetee,It's still a good looking snake. As far as dinner goes,I'll pick you up at 8:00,seafood OK? :crazy02:

It was an insensitive remark, but I've been disturbed by the opposite reaction from the uninitiated. I'll show them a lav-blood, a butter-stripe, and a hypo-blood, and they'll say "that's nice". Break out the normal, and they start ooh-ing and ah-ing. ;)

Dean, that's how my wife is. She could care less about any of the fancy "weird looking" (her words) snakes, but show her a normal and she thinks it is cute!
