Yay Government health care:(

I've scalded myself with hot drinks before, burnt myself on my toaster, iron, cooker, curling tongs...........I'm so clumsy I should be rich by now!

Last week Christine burned herself good on a pan, in the kitchen. I think we should sue the manufacturer of the pan. They didn't disclaim that the pan could get that hot.

If you cut me in I'll testify to all the emotional harm it has caused you and your family Wayne:D

On a serious note this reminded me of my pregnancy with my son. At 14 weeks I began to bleed and immediately figured I was miscarrying. The doctor had me come in and did a sonogram which should the blood was coming from outside the placenta though they couldn't guarantee my pregnancy would go full term. This went on for months until finally my OBGYN discussed with me "terminating" my pregnancy because with all the bleeding and stress to the fetus they worried about his development, birth defects, and other complications. I obviously decided against this and had to sign a waiver stating if anything went wrong with him they were not liable- outrage, but this is what happens when society sues over every little thing. He was born with a VSD, is developmentally delayed, has ADHD and other behavioral problems, but he is mine and I wouldn't want him any other way. The bottom line is I chose to continue with a risky pregnancy and NEVER would have even thought to sue. When you chose to do something your the accountable party in most cases it's called accountability for a reason.

They are exactly the same. According to my brother there is no difference. I take a drug called Nexium for my bad stomach. It is quite expensive. The Mexican drug is exactly the same, comes in the same bottle I get from my pharmacy here. I have really good insurance so it is cheaper for me to pay the copay than to buy in Mexico. The few times I have bought in Mexico, you have to bring a prescription bottle with you from the states and you are only allowed to bring 3 months supply back across the border.

Better look into other medications, Lucille, if you really want to whole scoop. It's not always the same....or always safe.

Nexium might be, but that does NOT hold true for all of them. QC isn't always the same, either. I'd agree that maybe all the ones made by American owned compaines are the same are the ones intended for import to the US are the same, but that is a LONG way from saying ALL of them are the same.....long enough to be false. ;)

Well KJ I might agree with you if you are taking a drug made in Mexico it is probably called marijuana. I can't imagine that any drug my doctor might prescribe would be made outside of the US. In fact, any drug bought or sold has to be approved by the FDA. Do you think they are making drugs to sell here and then making something else to sell under the same name somewhere else? That doesn't make any sense.

I think what he might be saying is that just because it's in a package marked Nexium, doesn't mean Nexium is necessarily in the package. :shrugs: At least that would be my biggest concern. Makes sense too. If you have people that begin "flocking" to your country to get cheaper drugs . . . stands to reason that the unscrupulous would cut the mix to make more $$. Not unlike street gangs cutting their coke.

Hell I live on the boarder, have most of my life, and I would not use drugs from over there, especially the higher demand drugs. I have heard too many stories of sheet rock being coated and sold as high dollar meds.

Well I'm not trying to sell you anything. What I can tell you is the Nexium I have bought in Mexico comes in a bottle made by Glaxo Corp who makes the drug. It is sealed with one of those tamper resistant seals under the lid. I contains one months supply of little purple capsules. Everything from the bottle to the seal to the capsule looks exactly like what my pharmacist has been selling me for 10 years. I'll take it one step further. If I forget to take my pill in the morning I will have reflux by 9 or 10 am. Reflux that burns, verps, that is a combo vomit burp. Without fail. I can take this Mexican Sheetrock pill and it works the same as the Nexium I buy here. You decide.

Wade, not all of it is fake, but enough is.

Some of the medications in Mexico come from US & other reliable companies. Some do not. You can't always tell which is which. There was an article on medication counterfeiting that was quite impressive, they even duplicate things like labels & the seals on the bottles pretty well. There is apparently very large amounts of money to be made in the medication counterfeiting business internationally.

I read an article on counterfeiting meds a while back. I can't remember the details, but it was mainly comparing Canada to the US (because a lot of Americans, and even state governments, want to make it legal to import cheaper meds from Canada - but the feds keep saying no because of alleged counterfeiting). As I remember, when random samples were taken from pharmacies in the US and Canada, we had our share of counterfeit drugs right here, in our own super duper regulated market. I think we may have had just as much, if not more, than Canada.

I would guess that it is more lax in Mexico than either of its northern neighbors. But don't assume that it is automatically secure because you buy it at a US or Canadian pharmacy, either.

You are correct on both statements. Developing countries don't have the budget to chase counterfeit drugs, and the US & Canada do, so there is LESS here, but it still happens!

[sarcasmfont]I am so glad the gov is going to run healthcare![/sarcasmfont]

Just an example of their efficiency. :shrugs: No biggie right, what's another $260mil among friends!

And the WHO's (the reference source for stats on how US healthcare is so bad) credibility is called into question for manipulation.
