Yay Government health care:(

My friend, In Louisiana, there are a lot of people waiting on their Social Security checks that have never paid into that system in their lives, They are the leaches that I am speaking about, not the ones who have retired and paid their dues...

I can only speak about what I have seen when it comes to that situation, I am sure there are areas where the only people drawing from SS are those who deserve it. But, where I came from, those people are were few and far between.

What I think you are getting at, Aaron, is that there is
SSI = what people over 65 get
SSDI = what people who are "disabled" or disabled get
And you are saying there are a lot of "disabled" people where you are talking about. Am I right?

I'm sorry, but don't all children deserve a free education in this country? I'm just saying...

No. And you agreed with my statement in another thread regarding those children who have flaunted the rules, and kicked their heels up at the free education that is graciously provided to them. Are you changing your mind??

As far as me having the support system in place... I am not sure what you are speaking of. I do know that many people (myself included) have gone from a lower class upbringing to a middle class adult life through sweat and hard work.

If you chose to put yourself in a situation where you can't do that, because you get pregnant at 16 or buy an expensive car right out of high school and are FORCED to work a job instead of getting an education... well, those are still choices that are being made.

And before we go there... getting pregnant should not be an excuse. It's still a choice- chosing to have heterosexual sex means making the choice to possibly become a parent.

In any event, I've got a lot to get done tonight (I was supposed to be working the senior state tests tonight but only one out of five kids showed up so I got sent home early) and conversations like these are what put me on hiatus a few months back. So I reckon I will bow out now.

I am not a supporter of universal healthcare. Libertarian through and through.

Is it better to ignore the shadow that might be a murderer hiding by your car instead?

No. What I do when going to my car is look around carefully. Consider. Use caution. Not run screaming from a shadow, claiming it is out to kill me.

Ahhh, sounds like you look out for YOURSELF and don't expect someone to do it for you.

Are you SURE you aren't a closet libertarian? If you REALLY want the .gov to look out for you, wouldn't you call a cop and have HIM check the shadows for you? I mean, isn't that what the .gov sponsored health care is really about? Someone wanting Big Brother to GIVE them something they didn't earn by taking it from someone who DID earn it?

Gov't sponsored health care might very well be the light I park under so that the shadows are reduced to the point where a murderer can't hide there. :D

Well, why not pay for your OWN light bill instead of expecting others to pay the light bill FOR you?

Never mind. If you can't see the .gov IS the murderer (by killing the right of people to own what they EARN instead of having it stolen by people who DON'T want to earn things themselves threw hard dedication and work), then you are welcome to being a taker instead of a producer. I've got too much pride to live like that.

Never knew a street light was going to jump out of the shadows at me. I'm sorry I didn't play into your poor analogy. I work hard, I'm dedicated, and I'm still paying through the nose and arse for health insurance. If I get, say, cancer, my health insurance used to be able to cease to be my health insurance, leaving me to attempt to pay for needed treatments. Except that of course, if I had cancer, the chemo, the radiation, would make me unable to work as much as I currently do, thus throwing me further and further into debt through no fault of my own. That's not being a taker. That's being part of a *society*. Hell, the entire reason humans are social creatures is because we need each other in order to survive.

Now we're talking about public utilities? What happened to HC?

How did Chris get it this twisted up?

Lord I apologize for that there, please bless the starving Pygmys in North Dakota.

No, NOW you'll have a committee of .gov officials who aren't even doctors decide if you are allowed treatment or just allowed to die because you aren't worth the cost.

That is SO much better than relying on the benefits of your OWN actions.

I feel better now. Thank you.

I'm 23, I pay $50 a month for private health insurance that comes directly out of my check and I never miss. Oh, by the way, I also have a pre-existing heart condition, and I've had absolutely no problems with my health coverage. You're right, please let the government cover me instead :angry01:

I'm not saying that I don't believe in helping out those that are less fortunate than me and hate the .gov with all of my being. I'm a Christian and I'm all for helping out those that are less fortunate than me, but I also want to help those that DESERVE help. What I do have a difficult time with is UNIVERSAL healthcare. I agree that the child whose parent is a piece of **** deserves healthcare coverage even though their parent might not, what I don't agree with is continuing to create an even larger welfare state. Our government is GREAT at accomplishing this and it just blows me away that we continue to complain about where our country is going without making adjustments to the course. Bush did nothing to stop the welfare state with many of his policies later in his presidency and Obama is just speeding it up even more with his ridiculous amount of spending. People want a trillion dollar universal healthcare system, but don't want more debt. Hypocrisy, thy name is the people of the United States...

The same way... oh... Steven Hawkings was allowed to die because he wasn't worth the cost as an infant? Oh wait....

Let's look at that image of the monster under the bed again... "And this is where Obama will send you to die if you get sick and then give your organs to illegal immigrants." Oh. Grow. Up.

I don't think it is right to lump people into categories. But I have to admit the folks in California have done a really good job of spending tax payers money.

I didn't know he was an American. Go figure - you learn something new every day. Of course, REALITY doesn't seem to be what you base your view of the world upon.

Why do you ignore the .gov programs ALREADY available to you if you did get cancer and lose your job? Why do you think it is acceptable to TAKE money from me to pay for OTHER'S desires and wants. Why should I be forced to pay for your false sense of security or vice versa?

When I get my education and job, health care was one reason I choose this field. If someone is too lazy to work as hard or too stupid to plan as far ahead, then I shouldn't have to pay extra because I wasn't.

Why do you think I should?

You brough up people being a social animal. Well, that only works when people help each other. Parasites - or, in this case, members of society that feed on the work of others - are not necessary, beneficial, or even something that should NOT be eradicated. If you had tapeworsm, you'd take medicine to get rid of them.

I just want people to stand own their own two feet. EARN what you get - or get expunged from the body politic. Don't feed off of others.

I can't believe how intelligent this conversation has become.

KJUN, are just copy and pasting your arguments from last year into this topic? UHC was not even considered in the recent bill that passed.

If I choose the "public option", I will make monthly payments into a "pool" that is used to cover most of the medical costs I might need in the future. I'm also likely to have co-pays for office visits, and shared prescription costs. That is precisely what private insurance does. The ONLY difference is that it will be made affordable to everyone. Not free...afordable. Every argument you have made in this topic has just completely crapped the bed.

And Wade...

Thank you SO much for making such worthwhile contributions as -

Seems to me that you have nothing more to say, unless you can get people riled up to start an argument. Must be nice to be 50-something years old and still in kindergarten...

Shiari-
Don't waste your time. KJUN lives in a little world all by himself where the only reliable "news" is the latest conspiracy theory, and everyone is out to get him. And Wade...well...Wade is simply a pot-stirrer, looking to get a rise from anyone he can, in hopes of impressing some females with his bravado, machismo, and "intelligence".

Pretty much a waste of time...:nope:

Wow did you see the substance in that post. That Chris doesn't waste is time beating around the bush he just jumps right to the insults. Contributing at every opportunity.
