Zilla Thermostat/Shed Box

Squirt

New member
So I got the Zilla Thermostat for my corn's viv this past Friday or Saturday (It's been a long couple of days) and let me just tell you how much it sucks!!!! Thankfully the one everyone recommends is arriving from Amazon tomorrow because I realized Sunday this one wasn't cutting it. I have set in the low 70's and it will my probe will read at over 100. Saturday night it read at 130. Luckily Squirt has been in blue and hasn't left his hide at all and ventured over there. I have it fluctuating between 78 and 90 now. I'll be glad when the new one arrives tomorrow.

I noticed today that Squirt is no longer in blue so I'm assuming he will starting shedding in the next few days. I went ahead and redid his viv (put his favorite hide in the middle) and created a shed box for him that I will be putting in tonight before I head to bed. Here are some pictures of the new setup with the new greenery and a picture of the shed box.

Nice viv, and creative box! One thing I am wondering is if you have a UTH since there is a light on top. With the UTH a light isn't recommended unless it emanates no heat and is only on during the night when they are active for your visibility.

I am glad you are getting a new thermostat, I went with an inexpensive slide light dimmer and it has worked wonders for me. I have ordered two more from Amazon for my two newest guys. You can get them from Lowes or HD.

Best of luck, let us know how the shed box works!
