But yeah, time is a huge factor. I'm not here everyday, and when I am I rarely reply to threads, because people like Nanci, Robbie and J9 have already answered questions/given advise/helped a brother out.... They are far more deserving of the post IMO.

Nanci has stepped down, Robbie has stepped up so I'm throwing my weight behind J9 as she would also make a great mod........
When are we going to run the pre election popularity polls to see which way the swing is?........

I second that, especially when I have reported the porn site ads and I know it will be hours before the states time catches up with us so they can finally delete it....
 
Great suggestion!

That is something to think about. We do have a lot of European (especially UK) members, as well from a few other countries. As much as I think the nominees so far would be great, it would be nice to have one non-US member, especially from a time zone that would correlate with that of the UK (because the majority of non-US members are from there).

Would there be any point, as the US contingent is strong and I can't see the vote going over the pond.....
Unless, like I suggested earlier..... Rich makes up two mods this time around which will also help split the work load.....

And thats one of the reasons I don't post on DYK as I'm in bed when the thread is running and like Johnny no mates during the day when you guys are in bed/work.... LOL
 
Thanks Elle, Mike! I do think the time-zone difference would be an asset if there was a european mod. I do pick up and report a lot of the spambot threads, I usually see them when I get in from work in the morning.
I'm by no means a perfect choice, but I do try to stay level-headed and if I do get involved in debate threads I consider my reactions instead of posting my knee-jerk reactions. I've had some successes and failures in my keeping and I do try not to be judgemental of other peoples' practices unless they are outrageously inviting argument. I'm only a hobbyist breeder, I haven't got a business base of potential customers to worry about alienating. I have a passion for this site, without the help I got I wouldn't have my lovely Lil who's a big healthy corn from very dodgy beginnings, or wonderful corns from great breeders like Toyah, Nigel, Lex, Vinman and Kathy.
I don't want or need to rule the world or have super-powers, I'd just like to help run the site.
 
If we want an overseas mod, how about Kokopelli/Oren? He seems level headed, he loves his snakes... This is just a suggestion because I feel way too new to do more than comment.

I wouldn't worry about alienating customers though. This is an American corn site and unless you start shipping it ain't gonna affect you.... LOL

Janine would be great, as would Oren, if he is interested. Although I think the American nominees are all good choices, in the interest of balance (and time zones!), I would probably vote for an overseas choice, all things being equal.
