Beginner's Question

When it comes down to it what would you guys suggest on being better for a beginner snake owner to start off with for the age of their first snake, hatchling, yearling, or adult?

For a first Corn, I'd go for a yearling. They're past that fragile hatchling stage where you can sometimes come across problem eaters or sudden unexplained deaths. As long as you buy a healthy yearling with an established feeding history, you can still have the enjoyment of watching them grow up.

Thank you for your insight, Bitsy. :)

I asked because some time in the near future I would like to get my first corn snake. I wanted to do as much research as I can first though. That and a few other things.

Thank you all for your insights into this question. It has actually has helped me a little in my own decision about which age I might decide for my own first corn snake.

yearlings are the safer bet, but I've seen more hatchlings available. I bought amy as a hatchling and am loving how dramatically she is growing.
